I would like to add this point to the discussion... Some people are using hip hop as a teaching instrument or a teaching tool... There's actually a teacher in California who raps. (He has turned mathematical lectures into rap songs.) Not only that, the students actually perform extremely well on math tests. Hip hop can actually be the ultimate solution to academic problems. Maybe teachers need to move away from traditional methods of teaching. As for the rapping math teacher, if you would like to search for his youtube videos, by all means, be my guest.

Someone could probably teach a class on deciphering Wu-Tang lyrics. Especially their earlier records, I don't know what the hell they're singing about most of the time, but the music is so good, I don't care. Still, it's clear that they have something on their mind besides the usual 'Papuh and Bitches' crap that Tupac and Biggie always sang about. Especially impressive when you consider that, as RZA says, 7 of 9 of them are repeat felons and at least one of them was a full on crackhead.

My words are suicide like the thoughts in my mind. I rap so good you wouldn't believe that im white. Besides my skin pigment when you see me in sight. Its alright. My girl nags me about talking to her more. Opening up about my feelings like im a door. Close my eyes but no dreams appear. That's probably why im almost losing all of my hair. Im only 16 and I gotta lot of stress. Dont get to see my girl my brother or my dead friends. This life man it's so wrong. Been dealing with the pain for too long. But good memories are what's making me hold on and stay strong. More emotional than a sad song. I play poker and laugh. Im the joker with a mask. Im lighting bolt fast. I predict the future,I live in the present, and I laugh at the past. Never die like im Jason.
All these words are just crazy. Listen to what I am saying. Cuz were bout to get groovy. And my words are blowing up just like a Micheal bay movie. Im sittin in class but im no normal ass student. I'll be taking notes and ill be writing my music. No hesitation bro imma just do it. Turn a dick into a pussy like Bruce Jenner. Im a beginner. Im a winner. I remember as kid, telling stories at dinner. My dad would always come home dirty. He had no worries. He's not it in a hurry. Telling me not to grow up fast. God I wish I was a kid again like I was in the past

Great job with this history of rap. You being a fan of this genre, do u think that this type of music has in some way influence the way you think or view things? For instance, ive noticed that my views towards certain society issues has changed throughout time, after many years of listening to artist suchas 2pac and like the ones mentioned on this post. It would be great to hear if anyone else has this same thing happen to them.
