Eh, I'm iffy on the whole issue. I think it represents more of a geographic location/lifestyle than it does racism nowadays, but I understand where some come from.

A major reason the confederacy was established was to show the southern states the discontent with the abolishment of slavery. Therefore wearing a confederate flag alsmost endorses the behavior.

But the confederacy stood for more than just slavery. It could be that she wishes to display or advocate those ideals while rejecting the idealism involved with slavery.

On the other hand, she COULD think it's pretty. Not that that would have any weighing in the subject

I said a major reason, not the reason.

yes, agreed. It's just a northern/southern thing. Not a white/ black thing anymore. If it was ever.

The belief in the right to keep slaves undoubtedly played a major factor, not just a "oh we hate the south" thing jeez..

SittingBehindYou 02-09-2006 04:32 PM

C'mon! I do not wish there was slavery. You're behaving imaturely just because I said I liked the confederate flag. The symbol itself, not past beliefs behind it. I do not support the southern beliefs of years ago. If slavery returned I would most likely die in trying to hide slaves. So stop with your southern racist bitch stuff.

Im going to bold what i was replying too.
