It's dope. What a shame he was taken away so young. And then Lynden David Hall stright after him. What's going on?

Its not a tribute album. It came out like 2 days before he died. Still pretty dope though

This album I got last Christmas and lately I have been using it as my dog walking album.

Every time I hear it, there is something I pick out that I have never heard before, there is so much going on, on each track especially if you zone into whats happening in the background and the vocal samples really help the album flow.

A great piece of work, I remember reading that it was done as his mixtapes were done, consisting of 20-30 "musical ideas". Much of it was created while he was in hospital.

I often wonder what the reason behind the album title is, is it named after a sample he used on the album?

Perhaps he just liked Doughnuts and misspelling words.
Has anyone got a link for a copy of this album?
I've always wanted to listen to it after hearing so much about it, but have only been able to find low quality downloads.

It isn't really a misspelling, it's how the word is spelled as a kind of shorthand on a lot of places that sell them here.

Anyway... on topic, I have to admit I've never been able to get into this album. I respect Dilla immensely but find Donuts fairly boring.

"Donuts" are what Dilla called his beats, or musical ideas. He was known to release "batches" (in layman's terms; beat tapes) of his donuts, and because of this his last studio album contains quite a few references to "donuts".

Thanks anticipation for providing the answer.
