Whats your favorite verse & why does it draw your interest?

One of mine gotta be:

Beanie Sigel - Still got Love for You / Jay-Z's verse:

"How could you let me grow without you? / Grind in this rap game, take dough without you? / Wore my pro keds close to the sole without you / Family pictures, posed without you / Why?"

Being a father, I see how my son is attached to me unconditionally, and I would never want him to feel the pain of me not being there for him. And it shows how important having your father right by your side is, being with you through your experiences, your struggle, your accomplishments, your success & your life period. That verse is a painful expression... it's deep in my opinion.

So anyway, what's YOURS???

I like a few one-liners from hot hot heat, and boy kill boy. They stick in your head really bad.

[MERIT] 10-27-2006 07:54 PM

id say Chino-XL's "here to save you all":

From a single seed off of a man
A man with countless hopes and dreams
And as he grew he tried and refied
But could never concord or succeed
The voices of the world spoke to him and said that he would be nothing
That the way he thought and expressed himself was pure hatred
Satan sent
This turned that man into a rod
A rod that would not bend
But through its entirety the confusion the chaos
He will be the one that will save you all

i dont know why, it just seems really deep and much more real than alot of rappers these days.

Took a right on Lyndale I'm getting near
But then the road became empty and the people disappear'd
The clowds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standin in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, starin at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

this is from atmosphere's Always Comin Back Home To You. i think it paints a very vivid and deeply emotional image

Sage Francis Sun Vs. Moon

"The devil only exists because of your belief in him,
Same goes for that other guy."

"God's not a woman,
He's a big white guy in the sky,
And the deserts are reflections of his eyes,
He doesn't cry for us,
But when he does,
It's cause he's drunk,
And he's always ****ed up,
Bottoms up."

I just think its an interesting way to think of things. The whole song is thoughtful to think of the sun and the moon as two battling djs.

Ev2Cool 11-18-2006 06:43 PM

Mine is: "SOS please someone help me its not healthy for me to feel this and why are you are making this hard I can't take it see it dont feel right." and: "Cuz we both know where I'm about to go, and we know it very well cuz I know that he knows I'm unfaithful and it kills him inside to know that I am happy with some other guy. I could see him dying." I love all of Rihanna's songs and these two (SOS and Unfaithful) are great to me, and the videos are the best!!!

Blain 11-19-2006 12:46 AM

The problem is that, both of those songs aren't even close to rap or hip-hop

NIQUE 11-19-2006 04:18 PM

Papoose- 2nd Place is the first loser.

What you don't know will hurt..I don't feel you
Knowledge is infinite what you don't know will kill you.

sweatshop union - try

Cuz I never wanna be the thing that you hear many say
Like "I coulda been, I shoulda been, but never did it anyway"
Livin' day to day a nickle spent a penny saved
Feelin' homeless always lookin' for some change

actually the whole song really. awesome message that just rings really true for me:

Try
Hard as ya' can
To understand
This runnin' in circles
Got me wonderin'
I- I- I don't know why
We pay it any mind
Baby I'm blind
How would we know
If we don't even
Try...

Ever since the ninth of July to the day that
I faded tonight in the sky
Cuz I never wanna be the thing that you hear many say
Like "I coulda been, I shoulda been, but never did it anyway"
Livin' day to day a nickle spent a penny saved
Feelin' homeless always lookin' for some change
Change o' mind, my mind is gone I want it back
Trainwreck rapper keep my life on the track
Anyone is everyone an' anything is everything
An' no one is a nobody I know it in my brain
Heard a wise man say an' I'll say it the same
It ain't how many times you fall but if you get back up an'

Try
Hard as ya' can
To understand
This runnin' in circles
Got me wonderin'
I- I- I don't know why
We pay it any mind
Baby I'm blind
How would we know
If we don't even
Try...

I'm tryin' to get up, get out, an' get some thin'
An' still live up to what I've said
What's important to me 's not a fortune please
Still don't feel I need a Porshe, Beemer to fulfill my dreams
Cuz I remember the reason that I got into this thing in the
First place wasn't ever to be rich
All I wanted was to say my peice and make enough at least
To have a place to sleep 'til I'm done that I won't sit down
An' I can't quit now I'm addicted to the drum kit's poundin'
An' now an' then it might feel like I'm runnin' in circles
I just gotta keep jumpin' the hurdles and

Try
Hard as ya' can
To understand
This runnin' in circles
Got me wonderin'
I- I- I don't know why
We pay it any mind
Baby I'm blind
How would we know
If we don't even
Try...

Well maybe I'm older
Maybe my heart's cold
Or maybe it's yours
Tell me to get over
This chip on my shoulder
That's bringin' me down

Well I got my word and my pride no job an' no credit
Found my one true love but got co-dependant
I got no things I got no image
Got a lot more goals an' not close to finished
I got a dream an' a pipe that's it
A drum machine an' a mic to spit
Got a career that made me cheat on my wife and mistress named life
An' I ain't treatin' her right either
Vice versa got some tight verses
Hope the first of the month some thin' might surface
It just might and it might just not
It's a flip o' the coin I suppose I just gotta

Try
Hard as ya' can
To understand
This runnin' in circles
Got me wonderin'
I- I- I don't know why
We pay it any mind
Baby I'm blind
How would we know
If we don't even
Try
Hard as ya' can
To understand
This runnin' in circles
Got me wonderin'
I- I- I don't know why
We pay it any mind
Baby I'm blind
How would we know
If we don't even
Try...

Eminem - Puke:

"you're a ****ing cocon slut i hope you ****ing die, i hope hope you get to hell and satan sticks a needle in your eye, i hate your ****ing guts you ****ing slut i hope you die diiiiieeee"

I spose it's just catchy, and its a nice song to play in the background when you break up with your girlfriend.

"I got the DVD of your wife gettin' killed and rapes
and everybody watched it like the Paris Hilton tape.
Where I'm from their ain't no scared hearts,
Had a twin brother but I murdered him
and now I'm using his body for spare parts." - Chino XL

Big L- 7 minute Freestyle f. Jay-Z

Where I'm from, niggaz jewels get ran like red lights
Old folks get mugged and raided
Crimes are drug related
And we live by the street rules that thugs created
Clowns get smoked about a thousand volts
For selling pounds of coke
Front in this town and get a tech stuck down your throat
I'm tellin you shit is about to get drastic soon
I'm quick to blast a goon
And break a mother****er like a plastic spoon

..The bitch type I dislike, I'm rougher than a fist fight
All chicks ain't shit, ain't no such thing as Miss Right
So we can never be a couple hun
Fuck love, all I got for ho's is hard dick and bubble gum

skindredluver 01-03-2007 12:14 PM

Ma Cherie 01-03-2007 04:26 PM

"Another day another dolla
Is the reality of my mentality
Otherwise don't even botha
You see my father was a wise old man
Always creatin the plan
For me to conquer this land
He said I am what I am
So be the best that I can
And if them others don't like it
Then why should I give a damn (huh)
Maybe so cause when his life wasn't right
My mother picked up them pieces
And continued on with the fight
So now it's plain to me
It ain't no game to me
See mom and dad corrected math
1 and 1 equal 3
4 and 5 I count my sister and brother
Stay alive till we die
And don't you ever be worried
Cuz I'm down with a ride
Through peaks and valleys to Cresent Hills
Tumble down I'll set a new ground for Jack and Jills
Ever wonder what put the thunder deeply in my eyes
Take a look and you'll find a sunshine

My life my life my life"

its true

"I came with the light and gave sight to the sages
black ink contained to write truth on white pages" - Jus Allah on Untitled off Violent By Design

"With the staff and white robe
I still hold metal
Disciples who walk on glass and rose petals" - Jus Allah on Ghengis Khan

Jus Allah's whole verse on Heavenly Divine.

I'm sure I have more, I just remember these because I listen to alot of Jedi Mind Tricks.

"Never forget, that God hasn't finished with me yet
I feel his hand on my brain
When I write rhymes, I go blind, and let the lord do his thang
But am I less holy
Cause I choose to puff a blunt and drink a beer with my homies?"
