Jedi Mind Tricks

I can't remember when I've ever heard anything with better flow. I'm in love. Sick shit. I've got violent by design on my computer if anyone wants it and if you like it and want more I do that too.

Laces Out Dan! 01-15-2007 05:12 PM

Jedi Mind Tricks own. I would be down for the album. My personal favourite track is Animal Rap.

Laces Out Dan! 01-15-2007 05:41 PM

Thanks tons

gregb 01-16-2007 11:31 AM

I really dislike 90% of their beats and production.

riseagainstrocks 01-17-2007 08:35 AM

I Against I is probably my favorite rap song.

I have to agree with gregb though. They'd be ALOT better if their production was on par with, oh say IT's Rev Vol.2

gregb 01-31-2007 04:18 PM

I take back what I said after hearing Army of the Pharaohs - The Torture Papers. WOW!

I really like that song as well. Jedi Mind Tricks are really awesome.

[MERIT] 02-21-2007 07:39 AM

My favs are Kublai Khan, I Against I, and Blood In Blood Out.

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 07:47 PM

Jedi Mind Tricks pwn. One of the best flow's ever as swim said.

Laces Out Dan! 10-11-2007 07:48 PM

There are far better flows in hip hop than Jedi Mind Tricks..still cool though.

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 07:49 PM

Heard I Against I? Or Age Of Sacred Terror?

Laces Out Dan! 10-11-2007 07:55 PM

Yes, I against I is an amazing song. The flow in that track is very similar to a lot of Mos Def. I think Method Man might have my favourite flow, as well as Mos Def, Brother Ali, and Classified.

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 07:58 PM

I don' think Eminem is very good, but his flow is amazing.
Everyone in Wu-Tang's got a good flow, Aesop, DOOM, Madvillain all haver great flows as well. Mos Def isn't lacking in the lyrical department but his flow is definetaly his strongpoint.

Sparky 10-11-2007 08:00 PM

i personally couldn't get into jmt, mainly because of they're flow. They're music sounds so much like everybody else's as well.

aesop, method man, pharoahe monch, slug, actually busta rhymes has great flow as well :P

and lol@lespaul@brotherali

Hes got that "Im fat, blind, albino, and white trash" kinda flow. I love it. :)

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 08:01 PM

I haven't heard much Slug, but I love his part in I'll Be Ok.

Sparky 10-11-2007 08:04 PM

slug is always better when hes cameoning on other peoples stuff, aesop, mf doom, ali.

"hey kid, you should **** exotic dancers, you should grow a pair of tits and some antlers!"

lol xD at least he doesnt take himself seriously.

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 08:07 PM

Rap is only good with humor and socially conscious lyrics. BLeh for rap love songs. The occasional gangster rapper is good(Biggie namely).

Sparky 10-11-2007 08:10 PM

all rap is socially concious at the some degree. Even the mainstream **** has at least a couple songs about being an opressed black male in america or something, even if its done horribly.

that's what rap is

ProggyMan 10-11-2007 08:11 PM

That's what it evolved from anyway. Yah, it's actually moderately funny to hear Akon talking about racism.

Bane of your existence 10-12-2007 01:09 PM

Aside from all their homophobia their slightly better than decent.

simplephysics 08-07-2008 12:12 PM

Jesus, I'm listening to The Psycho-social, Chemical, Biological, And Electro-magnetic Manipulation Of Human Consiousness and I don't think there is a more intelligent hip hop album out today. It's seemless.

Piss Me Off 08-07-2008 12:43 PM

Violent By Design = the awesome 36 Chambers follow-up that the Wu-Tang never made.

Agreed. I have been listening to a lot of Hip Hop these past few days and this album is excellent. Also been listening to Mos Def's 'New Danger' which is a belter too.

Vinnie Paz daddy! lol Vinnie Paz is sick with the wordplay, and Stoupe The Enemy of Mankind def. holds it down. Not really feelin the AOTP though. AOTP has top emcees but they dont work very well as a group. Jedi Mind need to bring back Jus Allah (he preys on the minds of the young.)

(sin)TAX 09-10-2008 12:22 PM

Mr. Lif's verse on "Speech Cobras" off of Violent By Design wrecks ****...peep that track yo!

Pwnage187 02-22-2010 03:09 PM

JMT and Jus Allah

There isnt a rap artist out there who can top Jedi Mind Tricks, except Jus Allah the black God. Simply tha best. I've been listening to them for about a year now, and before i started i was a pretty versatile listener, from UK's Terra Firma or Klashnekoff to one of New York's greatest MCs Immortal Technique. Now i listen to nothing but JMT. The lyrics are ginuwinely extraordinary and just flat out smart yo. peep DAT Sh!t

ProggyMan 02-22-2010 08:41 PM

The guy they mention in Before The Great Collapse, "P", is this crazy druggie who used to work at Pete's, I don't think he'll ever have kids...

There is some brilliant rap "love songs" out there but you're probably thinking of mainstream crap. Then again what defines a love song? I'd say that Eminem's "Kim" is a love song. I'd say cuban links "letter to pun" is a love song. But neither are traditional/stereotypical love songs. Does a love song have to be about your love for a woman/your partner. Can it be about your love for a culture, love for your family, your friends, your fans. Is tupacs "dear mama" or Nas "dance" a love song? It's quite a subjective topic really.

Anyway, as for JMT. They're dope. One of the few american rappers I still listen to. Although I agree their beats aren't exactly made for the mainstream but who cares? I still like most of them. Uncommon Valor was a dope track but the rugged man outshined paz by lightyears.

Loose_control 02-25-2010 01:13 AM

When I'm at work I play them and I get in the zone. Shout out to Army of the Pharaohs and Snow Goons too

Jedi Mind Tricks

They are coming out with a new record September 13 2011 named "Violence Begets Violence".

So give me your thoughts on the most talented of the group and some of your favorite songs and what you hope for with the new album.

**edit, thanks for movin my thread, i searched for a jedi thread, but for some reason couldn't find one.

OccultHawk 08-10-2011 06:17 PM

JMT uses great imagery and song and album titles and build an excellent mystic about themselves but their records aren't as good as they're made out to be when you start digging deep.

SGR 07-17-2013 05:57 AM

I've been meaning to check these guys out. I kinda want to get the limited edition vinyl of Violence By Design, do you guys think that's worth picking up for $20?

William_the_Bloody 07-19-2013 12:45 AM

I think so, at least for collector purposes.

I got into Jedi Mind Trick around 2004 when Legacy of Blood came out, but I didn't think they really hit their stride until the army of the pharaohs side project, with the Torture Papers album.

The Servants In Heaven, Kings In Hell album was really good as well. Check out songs like A Vietnam Story & Shadow Business.

Playlist for Violent by Design

SGR 07-19-2013 05:39 AM

^I just bought it, it was actually around $29. Now the question remains...

Should I open it or keep it sealed?
