K-os

Any K-os fans out there? I love his blend of hip hop/soul. The first song I heard from him was Freeze. Over the summer I picked up his latest album and totally loved it , I played it all throughout the summer

I'm a big K-os fan! Actually listening to "Atlantis, Hymns for Disco" right now, so I was stoked when I saw this subject.

I got turned on to him a couple of years ago with the "Joyful Rebellion" album. Right away I was hooked. So refreshing to hear something so different, both musically and lyrically, in hip-hop.

It's music like his (and as an example, the song "Valhalla" off this latest album) that makes me more and more excited for where music's gonna be headed in the future.

I completely agree!! k-os - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

K-os= He is my ALL TIME fave artist, his lyrics truly are like Kahlil Gibran...

Anyone who cares.. check out Exit too! And he can be heard with The Rascalz, and with The Chemical Brothers (song name??).

My Recommendations:
Heaven Only Knows
Superstar Part Zero
Crucial
Dirty Water (reminds me of Sam Roberts)
Papercuts
The Equalizer
Born to Run
Black Ice
Valhalla (sounds like Sam Roberts to me, he says not??)
Ballad of Noah (features Buck65...)

*sigh*:p:

K-OS is great!! A positive voice is hiphop. He raps, he sings well too.

He mixes lots of styles in his music.

This is what hiphop should be.

The only song of his I have heard is Windsurfing Nation on the Broken Social Scene album. I really love that song, I went to my local CD shop and saw his album and thought "Ah, I'll buy that tomorrow :D" They haven't had it since that day D= I really want some of his cds.

I still have deep regret that I didn't get to see him play while he was in my town
:( Although, he was supposed to play on a Sunday, at like 4pm, which wasn't easy for me to get to... Now, he's probably too big to play in that little dive bar, but I'm hoping he'll come back.

Yesssss! An excellent song, I'm just starting to get into Broken Social Scene. I can't for the life of me put my finger on the sample at the beginning of that track.... does anyone know it??? All I can get is the lyrics "Can't keep running away" I know it's from a hip-hop group and I cannot find info anywhere.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about??

The Chemical Brothers song you are thinking of is Get Yourself High.....I love the video for it, cracks me up everytime:rofl:

Okay maybe this doesn't really belong here, but going back to K-os and BSS, I think Windsurfing Nation is one of the tracks where Leslie (Feist) and Emily Haines are singing togehter. I know that all of them alternated but I'm just getting into Feist (didn't like Metric...) et al... Maybe this isn't really news??

Dizzys in the wolf 02-10-2008 10:34 AM

I don't know, the vocals are a mess in that track they're bound to both be in there. I think there might be a third female vocal too which would probably be Amy.

Pedestrian mentioned this album so I decided to give it a listen. Really good stuff. Gonna have to check out his other material.

djchameleon 05-01-2013 03:49 PM

Check out Atlantis:Hymns for Disco next and his most recent release.

Skip Yes! for now.

Even I have to go back and listen to Yes! again, it didn't have a lasting impression on me.
