Default Complaints About Rappers You Like

I enjoy Rick Ross' rapping, but he doesn't tell us much about him, or things he feels feelings about, or about Miami, or whatever. He seems like a man who's in Rap for the money, even though he could be putting something out there that people can learn a little from. Maybe with more listening I'll uncover something but I'm done here for now.

How about you guys.

Ying Yang Twins. They say the most foul, incomprehensible things I've ever heard, but I love it. And it sells. It seems as though they could say something more positive and no one would ever know.

Like how you described Rick Ross... it's a shame they don't take more than money seriously.

I am a bit pissed that I know Chipmunk, a young and great Grime MC, is going to sell out. He is so good...

so Deeper than Rap didn't tell you more about Rick Ross? I thought it would.

I've only gotten 5 tracks in on one listen. But maybe it will; that's where the "more listening" part kicks in. ;D

Nas has a pretty terrible ear for beats for the most part [Illmatic doesn't count]

And Nas is top 2 in my mind, still. But it still bothers me.

I guess I'll be the 1st to say that as much as I like Aesop, his lyrics are a bit unintelligible at times and I wish he wasn't always so cryptic.

I'm not really sure if it's a complaint or an observation, but like people have said with Aesop Rock and his cryptic lyrics, I wish Busdriver was the same way. A part of me wonders if it's just nonsensical lyrics that flow well together like Beck's first two albums, or if there are some underlying messages and themes. I have such a hard time hearing all of them that it's really hard to say one way or the other. The only track I can really rap along to with an proficiency is "Happiness ('s Unit of Measurement)" and even some of the words I interpret are questionable at best.

I'm not much of a lyric person so Aesop Rock's cryptic lyrics don't bother me. I never even thought of them as being cryptic, that's how little attention I pay to lyrics. But...I do find his style and voice a bit too samey from track to track. I can only take so much at a time.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
