Best Political Rap Songs

What is your favorite political rap song??

Scubasteve 01-27-2009 01:52 PM

Anything by Public Enemy.

Check out the new song, "A Message From Gaza," from Hip-Hop's favorite son, Doktah Soose. Written from the perspective of a would be jihadi, the track tells the tale of a disenfranchised young adult who sees life as one tragedy after another. Follow him as he explores the feelings and conclusions he's reached as a result of the suffering he's endured at the hands of his Israeli occupiers.

// FREEDOM FOR PALESTINE // الحرية لفلسطين // LIBERTAD PARA PALESTINA // LA LIBERTE POUR PALESTINE // FREIHEIT FâR PALÄSTINA // 自碱巴勒斯墦ク // VRIJHEID VOOR PALESTIJN // FRIHET FOR PALESTINA //

Try and get your hands on "The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury". They dropped it in 1992 and it's got some pretty hard-hitting rhymes.

Public Enemy and The Coup, definitely. You cannot beat those two when it comes to political messaging.

MyRapNameIsAlex 08-18-2014 05:17 PM

Hazy Shade of Criminal by Public Enemy is really good.

in terms of newer songs... "Crosshairs" by Bambu & DJ QBert is so good it's insane.

Most Billy Woods tracks gain this status for me, but here's one of my favorites of his which focuses on imperialism:

really dug that The Perceptionists song as well as Billy woods

my personal favorite is Sole -Theme

but i can honestly say that Consolidated's Unity of Oppression is quite possibly the most influential song i've ever heard....i was 13 or 14 when i first saw this video and it lit a torch inside me....i changed and have never looked back :)

A Tribe Called Quest - Steve Biko (Stir it up)

MyRapNameIsAlex 08-20-2014 06:58 PM

Consolidated had a whole ton of jems that not many people ever heard of.

Other groups and artists that I REALLY dig include
Test Their Logik
Rebel Diaz
One Day as a Lion
Tem Blessed
Jasiri X
Flobots

I would say Brother Ali too but I assume that's kind of obvious.
