Your introduction to hiphop

Earliest I can remember is either Snoop Dogg with "Gin and Juice" or "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock.

But yea, for me it all started with BB.

Pretty much the same for me. I started getting into Marxman about '98 but I always had a soft spot for the early boom box stuff like Afrika Bambaataa etc.

I had a weird intro to hip-hop. My dad is a man of eclectic tastes and among the artists he likes is Miles Davis. As a kid I remember there was this really cool-sounding music playing one day and I asked what it was. My father handed me the CD- Miles Davis Doo-Bop. It is a collaboration with rap artists from the early 90s that he was working on up until the day he died. I always used it as an argument in later years when people confronted me with the "Rap music has no real music or soul" argument. After all who can argue with Mr Davis

I posted this in the "Top Ten Most Important Albums To You" thread.

4. Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)-Wu-Tang Clan In terms of sheer attitude, I'm convinced this is one of the most punk albums ever created, despite it being a hip-hop album. When the only hip-hop I knew was the stuff I hated on the radio, this album came as a gateway to entire genre of music I didn't know.

First thing I ever liked was Eminem, but Jedi Mind Tricks were the first to really get me in to rap.
