Default Alejo's Hip-Hop Album of the Month

I can't commit to updating this that often, so monthly sounds good. Hopefully I can get some names you haven't heard of out there and people can get some new stuff in their playlists. So for June...

Reks - Grey Hairs

Probably the best CD of 2008 that you never heard. This guy is helping save the classic NY hip-hop sound. Even if he doesn't grab you, the production should. But I have a feeling he will. Wish I could give a better review, but I'm rushing it and put a professional review down at the bottom.

Stages (prod. Large Pro) - YouTube - Reks - Stages [Prod. Large Professor]

'Money on the Ave' ft. Skyzoo - YouTube - (Video) REKS - Money On The Ave ft. Skyzoo

Love Sweet Misery (prod. Statik Selektah) - YouTube - Reks - Love Sweet Misery

I'll zshare the album later if I have time. But if you enjoy it, consider giving it a buy, as these are the types of artists that could use the support. That or d/l it yourself, or wait for me.

His flow is nothing special, but I really like the beat to Stages. I might just get this.

Bump for some raw, gritty hip-hop. At least give Money on the Ave. a listen.

Skyzoo hits a "You can play with the bass, **** around with the treble, or you can play with the base and turn powder to pebble". Mmmmhmm. 'zoo's probably got one of my favorite flows out of NY right now

First time hearing this guy. I really like "Stages." Vocally, he is reminiscent of Jay-Z mixed with NaS. Lyrically it's a bit stunted, although truly a New York style. (hence sounding a bit like Jay-Z mixed with Nas) I'm definitely put off by the lyrics. The production is good though, thanks for the post.
