Kid Cudi

His album, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day, dropped today. I'm giving it a listen with an open mind- didn't get into "Day 'N' Nite" when it came out, so I have some catching up to do...

I like ECho and that MIx he did with that weIrdo, Lady GaGa.

Common-- the next Morgan Freeman in the voiceover business.

EDIT: And I'm not saying that because he's black.

EDIT^2: Got through a full spin, and I really like it. Damn, how lonely can one guy be? Reminds me of Lupe's mainstream debut- some catchy singles, solid front-to-back, repeat listening value.

I bought it today.
It's a damned amazing album.
I love it.

I listened to it, then read a review that the New York Times did. They were really spot on.

Check out the review here

One part I thought was particularly accurate:

Quote:

This album needs something solid: not a Common, who delivers preposterous, artless voice-over narration throughout, or even a Kanye West. What it needs is a Kid Cudi.
Those of you who've heard it probably understand the predicament.

Just putting this on my iPod then I'll give it a proper listen. Not heard much from this album so it'll all hopefully be new, unless he's recycled a lot of stuff from this mixtape earlier int he year, then I might have heard some of it. Hoping it's as good as I'm expecting.

It's been a disappointing year for hip hop in my opinion, aside from a few good releases. Hopefully Cudi and Wale can turn things around, and Dizzee Rascal if any of y'all are familiar with him in the USA.

^

I'm excited for the Wale, and I plan on checking out the Dizzee Rascal album. his last one was pretty good.

Wale got pushed back to weeks, so it comes out the week after Tech N9ne's new release.

Wow, after one listen I'm speechless. Breath of fresh air. Much needed.

A whiff of 808's, which is great with me (I liked it) and lots of great spacey beats and layed back rhymes. Great sound overall in my opinion, I even really like the Poker Face sample produced by Kanye. I'll give it another listen later.

Definitely up there with the best hip hop releases this year, although I may be a little biased after only listening once. I'm just listening to Q-Tip's long-delayed Kamaal The Abstract album now, and it's also amazing! Just after starting to lose faith with hip hop recently, along come these two great new albums in the same day.

This is the first place I have heard postive things, I took a listen to the snippets and wasn't impressed......Might have to reconsider.

I have listened to this album repeatedly over the last couple of days and the stand out tracks for me are....

Cudi zone, pursuit of happiness, sky might fall and soundtrack to my life.

This album is great to just listen to in a dark room and space out because of the production from Ratatat.
