Post So they said hip hop was dead.

Personally, as an avid hip hop listener I couldn't be more happy with the direction it is going in right now. Hip hop has evolved from what it was. The underground scene often gets pushed to the side and overlooked, but as far as commercial goes, it seems to me rappers have more substance to their words. There was definitely a time when people were comfortable with getting stupid. New generation artists such as J Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Currensy and even Drake are a few names who have shaped and formed this new sound. Sure, maybe not all their songs have uplifting messages, but compared to the direction hiphop was going in [all base, no real lyrics] , I would say it made a 180 pivot. What some called the death of hiphop, I would call.. a reflection period.

Not everyone agrees with me on this, so tell me, what are your thoughts?
