Default E.p.m.d.

One of my favourite hip-hop groups, they need their own thread. 'Strictly Business' and 'Unfinished Business' are essential hip-hop albums in my view. Eric & Parrish make killer beats.

Who are they, and what does that stand for? I'm a bit clueless on this one.

Eric and Parish Making Dollars. You should download Strictly Business. It's a golden age hip-hop classic. Not the best rappers but the production on it is immense.

Now that you mention it, I have no idea what EPMD stands for.
But I thought their 'Strictly Business' album was standard fare. Like up there with old KRS-One and Eric B and Rakim and such. Can't remember the last time I heard it though.

Once I saw the name "Erick Sermon" it instantly jogged my memory.

Oops. Yeah, I even used to know that.

By "old KRS-One" do you mean Boogie Down Productions or his early solo work? I haven't heard that solo stuff but BDP are also great. I'm a big fan of Golden Age Hip-Hop and definitely prefer it to what came after. Strictly Business is, in my opinion, one of that era's better albums.

E.P.M.D is definitely somewhat responsible for the giant jump hip hop took from the old school days to the "middle ages," so to speak.

No one was sampling as heavily as them back in their day. Especially not classic rock and funk hits. Very easy stuff to bump to.

I haven't heard their new stuff since they got back together but I gotta say that Strictly Business is their maddest album for me.

Apparently In Housin' was covered by Rage Against the Machine but I haven't got the nerve to check it out. Something's are better left untouched and I think that track is plainly too hot to touch.

The production on You Gots too Chill is of the hook.

Gonna do everything in my power to get down to Central Park on August 27th to seem them with Rakim and Funkmaster Flex.

@Saddest-Of-All-Keys: You Canadian? - noticed you spelled favourite like one.
