Well, I've personally always regarded Dre's beats to be better than his rapping, but that being said, neither are exactly ground breaking.

I definitely disagree with you about his beats. He was one of THE most influential producers of the 90s.

They still aren't that great though, RZA is definitely better.

I couldn't disagree more. I find RZA pretty dull most of the time honestly.

(I get a feeling this is gonna get cyclic suuuper quick)

What i like about RZA is how dark and atmospheric he can make his beats (much of 36 Chambers and some of his Ghostface work), not to mention action packed. Dre's got a couple of smooth beats but RZA's are much more animated. I should listen to more Dre, but the beats on the Slim Shady LP were really boring and uninspiring to me, and his Snoop Dogg stuff is alright from what i remember from it; he gave the Game some pretty good beats, but still, RZA's have a lot more character to me.

Eh, The Slim Shady LP isn't exactly the high water mark of Dre's career. Doggystyle, The Chronic and The Chronic 2001 are where it's at with him.

Surell 09-09-2011 06:40 PM

Well I have one of those down, i've been meaning to get the Chronic since i started listening to rap, so i indeed suck.

90% of the beats dre has produced bang as hard as you can possibly imagine. RZA's stuff isn't for clubs and whatever, it's really chilled and just rolls along.

Not always, there are some pretty vibrant RZA beats out there. Case in point:

Why is rza being compared? DJ premiere has been around as long and he's easily better.

Madlib is def the best doe

Surell 09-15-2011 07:39 PM

Madlib Yes! I'd agree there just for Madvillain (sine he's what really made it great). Premiere is someone i still need to check out. Who did he produce with?
