B L A C K I E - 'ALL CAPS WITH SPACES'

Download the album here.

Great hardcore Hip Hop that makes Death Grips look like a bunch of teeny boppers :D

Phantom Limb 12-22-2011 07:13 PM

That definitely goes hard. Imma download it and check it out.

Sparky 12-22-2011 07:26 PM

yeah this is dope. Really surprised me, haven't heard anything quite like it.

Janszoon 12-22-2011 08:27 PM

I downloaded this last week based on your recommendation (I think) Tom. I haven't had a chance to give it a solid listen but I'm looking forward to it. I wish more people were doing stuff like this.

Yeah, it was me. I can't wait for this kind of work to reach premium MC's. Not having a go, but the Death Drips/B L A C K I E rappers (no idea what their names are) ain't the greatest in the World.

Saying that, the style of song suits them a lot more than, say, Biggie or Nas.

I would LOVE to see production like this mixed with Wu-Tang verses, like Wugazi did to such great effect.

Imagine "Hut 1, Hut 2, Hut 3... HUT!" and some mother f*cking eardrum exploding nonsense coming through the speakers!

I'm not really a fan of the Wu, but I agree with what you're saying overall. I'd love to see some really good rappers working with some more interesting music.

Have you checked out K-the-I by the way?

Goofle 12-22-2011 10:29 PM

Not a fan of Wu? I assume you have heard their best material - 30 Chambers and The W? I think their production style pioneered the Death Grips sound to be honest. The idea that rap can have noisy production.

This song would be INSANE over B L A C K I E production.

I have heard of K-the-I, but not got round to listening to anything (I don't think).

Sparky 12-22-2011 11:02 PM

I would prefer some original material to a collaboration. I usually have a strong connection to the original sound associated with the lyrics, and it never feels quite right when it's mixed with something else.

Goofle 12-22-2011 11:07 PM

I certainly agree, but I think the vocal styles of the Wu-Tang members would fit this production style very well.

I've never heard The W but I own 30 Chambers and have never really been able to get into it. I mean it's okay, but I usually lose interest after a few songs.

I would think Public Enemy was more of the pioneer in that department honestly.

I'd definitely recommend giving Broken Love Letter a listen if you get a chance. It's good stuff.
