Sorry to be that guy, but i thought it was kinda wack

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 02:41 PM

I haven't even finished mentally picking it apart yet, I think you need to listen to it 5 more times and get back to us. But yeah, you can be that guy if you wanna be.

Sparky 04-11-2012 02:57 PM

I've listened to it 3 times, I know thats not the defacto standard for aesop rock songs but still, it's pretty wack.

It's a step backwards from hail mary mallon.

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 03:54 PM

Hail Mary Mallon was a half-step backwards. Rob Sonic held him back on the track. This is back on normal ground with him by himself, in his element. Beats nice, liked the changeups; his delivery is par excellent as usual, and his lyrics are fairly metaphorical and complex as usual, so I'd say "Welcome back, Aesop, I was worried about you, but not anymore"

^ Tru dat.

Listened to it about 10 times now, really like it.

The track's pretty sick IMO. I like it more than El-P's. Also, this is hilarious:

See you like it for the exact reason i dislike it. It sounds like quintessential aesop rock to a t. His flow is the same, production the same.

I actually really liked how he slowed his flow down on hail mary, the production on this track is so boring compared to hail mary or felt 3. It lacks punch.

I know im sippin the hatorade right now, but this track is too conservative for me.

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 09:13 PM

Hmm, you know ... "different strokes for different folks". I thought Felt 3 was decent at best, and Hail Mary Mallon was just-for-fun and merely a nice snack so to speak.

My favorite Aesop is Labor Days and Appleseed, and he's changed since then. Lateral change. Not better, not worse, but different. You can throw that track on and then throw on an older Aesop track - even off Bazooka Tooth and it's changed. Hail Mary Mallon has changed him a little. His style is halfway between where he was in 2007 and Hail Mary Mallon. What we need to do is wait and hear the rest of the album before we can really dissect how he's changed.

It's so hard to compare to the two. I prefer AR though.

MF Doom. Not HANDS DOWN, but I prefer him over Aesop. Hell, I prefer him over any rapper. He's my favorite.
