Favourite Verses?

I assume there is a thread for this somewhere, but if not, here goes.

The title pretty much says it all, but it would be nice to hear you guy's favourite Hip Hop verses. Either post a track, the lyrics or both if possible. Also, if you are posting a track, maybe point out when it starts. Also, it would be great if you explained what you particularly liked about the verse.

Here's mine for the moment.

EL-P starts at around 3:35. I love how he basically spits his 16 bars whilst counting to 16 in some form or another. Just excellent.

Quote:

Straight shots of the sterno plus, wick stuck in the bottle empty
3 blocks to the target we light it and lob it hard at sentry
4 pigs of the oinking variety guard the market entry
5 minutes of flames and then aim the whistle my father lent me
6 o'clock we meet up and divvy the shells among the youngins
7 continents in the shit and smoke like it's fuckin London
Just before they ate up the funds our harmony love was bumpin
Our goverment issue 9's and point 'em where your blood is pumpin
Ten(d) to mop up these muttering zombies talker pieces
El'll ven(t) on you harder than Fukashima breezes
In the end when a dozen or so ajourn to reason
You'll find the verdict return corrupted in murderous seasons
With inverted 31's and other unlucky omens
Thats why I chug 7 and 7's 'til I'm fuckin homeless
And every time you think my 15 minutes of fame are up
I'll spit another 16 to prove to the world I fuckin own it

Inspectah Deck on Wu-Tang's Triumph

I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block

:banghead:Everyone says this... he is just blabbering on and short to make it sound all sick; which I'll give it him credit for. The rare Mac Dre album says it all "it's not what you say... it's how you say it". Have you read the lyrics? They're alright and super choppy.

But that's your opinion and everyone is different...

Final verse, performed by Pimp C

Here's the one that used to be used a lot, and there's even an older one here, but it was much less popular.

Anyway, to not be a spoilsport, here's a piece of Wu Banga 101, GZA's devastating opener:

Yo, too advanced, Digi' stance, made the CD enhanced
I move with the speed and strength of ants
Identical in form with the Beez they swarm
Hold up the cold current appear warm
My first verbal brawl, started on some yes yes y'all
To the beat y'all, break your windshield, your jeep stall
Mr. Traffic, dumbin ****, from ecclesiastic
Cashier, holdin out, fine, cut off the plastic
See the logo? A monument in hip-hop
Carved out, in the giant landscape, of broken rocks
Whether heard in herb spots, jukebox or malt shops
Uncut live, drop eighty-five, in one shot
Spotlight hits the metal mic, majority stare
Heard the Wu snare, while my iris cut down the glare
Walk a road the great length you find too long to measure
My Clan a make me rhyme like D. Banner under pressure
No surprise, double disc touched five
Those elements, kept environments colonized
With the high flyin death-defyin flow like the Rebel
Right there, but you're one light year, from my level

The whole song is ill, but that's my favorite.

It's still "I dont give a finnuck" -2 Chainz Song: Crack

edwardc77 05-13-2013 04:22 PM

Street's disciple, my raps are trifle
I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle
Stampede the stage, I leave the microphone split
Play Mr. Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone ****
Verbal assassin, my architect pleases
When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin Jesus
Nasty Nas is a rebel to America
Police murderer, I'm causin hysteria
My troops roll up with a strange force
I was trapped in a cage and let out by the Main Source
Swimmin in women like a lifeguard
Put on a bulletproof nigga I strike hard
Kidnap the President's wife without a plan
And hangin niggaz like the Ku Klux Klan
I melt mics till the sound waves over
Before steppin to me you'd rather step to Jehovah
Slammin MC's on cement
Cause verbally, I'm iller than a AIDS patient
I move swift and uplift
your mind shoot the gift when I riff in rhyme
Rappin sniper, speakin real words
My thoughts react, like Steven Spielberg's
Poetry attacks, paragraphs punch hard
My brain is insane, I'm out to lunch God
Science is dropped, my raps are toxic
My voicebox locks and excels like a rocket
(Nas)

I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl 05-13-2013 06:12 PM

Quote:

Dreams be the ashes
Burns and thrashing in the wind
Flying out the burning bush attached to sister's hand
Who whispers word
Smiling and giving thanks, living in doubt no longer
As she figures out the riddle to the song
Saying why must we suffer now and not suffer later if later
Never comes soon enough to soothe the hatred
And hatred
Is the cancer born of love's absence
And the absence is the void left from missing every chance to
Challenge our fates and perhaps our very names
Sister says peace and prayers for rain and change
Tosses out her lighter
Walks out of the cipher
For shizzle it starts to drizzle and then I begin to write this
Inhale the imagery a queen walking steadily
Effortlessly
Ready to be
Every woman and now the
Story teller ends
Waiting for the beat to fade
Gathering his thought near the edge of the day like...
Ah, beautiful song.

"Straight outta callipinark"

he is so ridiculous on that song. Do you think they censor "finnuk" on the radio?

Really?

I cringe when I hear rappers do stuff like this. Same when they do alphabet bars. It is good how he's got some of the numbers in there though, but these sort of concepts have been ruined for me by hearing loads of shit rappers try similar things.

I don't know. I like Alphabet bars. My favorite person doing that is Papoose.

He does it from Z to A also.

Papoose is good tbh, but I just can't enjoy these concepts. They seem forced, no matter how well they're done (which I can respect, as he's put that together very well).

Shit like this has ruined it for me, I've heard too many shit guys try (and fail) to do these sort of bars - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW7TePsvuqk

I can enjoy some concepts (Common - I Used to Love H.E.R. is good) but particularly counting and doing alphabet bars has been done to death, I can't enjoy them anymore.

You want a dope concept? How 'bout this song?

Pharoahe Monch uses the theme of rape to describe how talented of a rapper he is! :D

Three blind mice as we're lost in the maze route, lookin' for the easiest possible way out
Day in and day out, you run into a closed road. Turning into old folk, chasing after rose gold
What they don't know is that it belongs to a fool
Choosing wants over needs, singing songs of a mule
Carrying their burdens when you barely know the person
And that is the difference between a pharaoh and a servant
I choose to serve no man but serve mankind
At the same time avoiding all of Earth's landmines
You step in it and you blow up
You exit or you grow up, or get locked up
The pigs catch ya eating donuts
But I'd rather rhyme bars than sit behind bars
How can a prison cell contain this shining bright star
They have no idea what I could do in a minute's time
Break down the walls of the maze and run through the finish line

epik high - maze (ft. dumbfoundead, myk)

I actually just spent $20 on this particular CD because it's out of print. Part of me feels bad for spending that much on a used CD and another part of me is 100% satisfied to finally have the damn thing, haha!

Check out this song man, it was Monch's most popular and the remix (this particular one) features Method Man, Redman, Busta Rhymes, and Lady Luck, and they all kill it! Oh yeah, and it samples the Godzilla theme in the beat. :D
