Mike WiLL Made It

I'm making threads for cred.

No really, i think this guy's probably the sharpest producer in the mainstream rap realm right now. Lex Luger's a one trick pony, and Hit Boi is just boom-bap with Kanye West making him too popular. This guy, though, has some weird dynamics, really smooth textures, and great production, not to mention catchiness. Like I said, this is popular rap production, so don't expect Clams or whoever else out of this.

Here's him working with Curren$y:

I agree he is a good producer and has dope songs but I dont feel Hitboi is talentless and Lex I havent heard his songs to divulge an opinion

OH talentless was harsh, but I don't think he's the beat wizard he's been made out as. there's not that much character or really anything to them. Maybe that's the key, but, eh.

Lex Luger is certainly a one trick pony, yet still nobody has been able to match his monolithic crunk. Cheif Keef, Kanye, etc none of them have been able to replicate the sheer hardness of that flockavelli record.

Hit Boi is dope ur trippin.

This guy is cool, never heard of him though I've heard most these songs a **** load. They all sound super glossy and expensive but don't bang real hard which is what i prefer in beats

Okay so I had a chance to check out Lex Luger's material

On the cover, Lex has only one sword style when he produces beats, however, his sword style is on point and his sword he uses is sharp

I personally think Lex has great music for training for sports or soldiers to get them ready for battle IMO

I dunno Sparky, whoever did Brand New Guy did a damn good job of that style beat, and even though a lot of people don't like it, Bitch Suck Dick was a pretty good aping of the sound. You guys are right, Lex really did make a sort of paradigm in beatmaking, but I just wish he could evolve beyond it. The sound got pretty old after hearing everyone trying to rip it in the same season, but that's probably just me.

I agree, they don't bang too hard, which is pretty weird for what popular rap beats call for these days, but I think just the way he sets up sort of crescendos or moods makes the songs. Plane Jane has no crescendo like Turn On the Lights or No Lie, which are massive in their dynamics, but its mood just gets you all low-key and menacing. And, like you said, the production gives it great clarity. It's all very smooth, almost laid back, even though he plays with a lot of loud/soft.
