The Weeknd: Trilogy.
Hey, I'm generally new to the thread, but not forums ok.
I love Trilogy, By the weeknd, His music is really good. I appreciate what he sings about and how he does it. The beats in my opinion are really good on most of all of his songs. He's been getting a lot of positive reviews from other people, I just wanted to see how everyone else felt. So tell me how you feel about the weeknd, OR R & B in general. |
I had all the originals, I heard they were re-mastered for The Trilogy package, as if that were necessary.
I'm a massive fan, I remember being blown away by his voice and the top-notch production on House Of Balloons. And all 3, Thursday & Echoes of Silence also, were fantastic records. In regards to RnB, it was dead until The Weeknd and Frank Ocean lead a two man revolution to make it relevant, and to make some awesome music. Nice username by the way. |
Thanks :D I'm an asap fan, But, I agree on the R & B statement, I think it's really good for them to modernize it, and take it to a new level that isn't all " poppin bottles in the club and banging some dumb slut. "

I like how all the albums are packaged neatly into Trilogy...and believe it or not the remastering really does a lot for the music. It's very noticeable with a nice pair of headphones. House of Balloons is still his best, though. |

My favorites so far: The birds pt 1, Life of the party, Lonely Star, Twenty eight, The party & after party, The knowing, and wicked games

They're finally starting to get hip around my town, and they've been playing Frank and the Weeknd. As much as I wanted to hate these guys, "Wicked Games" is a really sick song. I think it's interesting they these dudes and Frank are blowing up in the same genre at the same time, as they do very similar things (conceptual albums (at least in their movement), great production, vivid, idiosyncratic lyricism) but in very different lights - obviously light and dark. It's like if Frank became consumed by his own crew's aesthetic in a very real, scary way.
I talk about scary with "Initiation" in mind as well; that song is seriously disturbing for me. |
Big Weeknd fan but I hate when ppl classify his music as R&B lol

As opposed to what?

I have listened to this. So moist that it's dripping wet. Although to be fair I don't like RnB.
My cousin and all her little friends like this guy though so not sure if that clouds my judgement. |
