Favorite Hip-Hop Double Albums
 

So there aren't a TON of hip hop double albums but there are a few gems within the existing ones. Just post your favorite/favorites and tell why.

The amount of knowledge and science referenced within this one is crazy. Like they say in the album, this is all the education you'll need. The classic "Triumph" still stands as one of the best hip hop songs ever and as one of the riskiest choices for a hip hop group at the top of their game trying to sell a double album. 5 some odd minutes long, no hook, no catchy beat, just pure unadulterated hip-hop skills. Most of the members get to show their skills but there IS a noticeable lack of GZA and ODB. (who were two of the most prominent on the debut)

The production is incredible and shows a natural growth from the previous Wu-Tang album. There are flourishing strings, R&B backing vocals, and synths here. They combine to form a timeless sheen on a great hip hop double album.

So what's you guys favorite and WHY?

Not sure.

The obvious ones are that, Life After Death and All Eyez on Me aren't they? Can't think of anything else off the top of my head? Would Fantastic 2.1 count (One disc is the album and the other is instrumentals)? I'd vote for that if so.

There's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below as well but that's more like two solo albums released together. I'll go with All Eyez on Me although I don't rate any of them that much. AEOM has a bit of filler but some of Pac's best tracks.

There are some less obvious ones too though like Scarface's My Homies, Jay's double album, Nas' double album, and one of the most overlooked, UGK's self titled double album. You also got the Art of War and E40s "Element of Surprise"

Forgot that Bone Thugs one as well lol.

I dunno man cos I haven't heard some of those. Of what I have heard I think AEOM is the best.

I've never listened to "American Hunger", is it any good?

I liked a good majority of the songs. A lot of my fav grimm sonys are on it. I would listen one disc at a time tho. I listebed to all 60 in one sitting and it was a lot to take in

So Life After Death vs All Eyez On Me? What do you guys think concerning that? I think AEOM is slightly more ambitious but LAD definitely seems more lean and more cohesive. It's difficult to choose
