Default Respond to this observation of the state of hip hop.

In today's scene, there are only three kinds of rap and hip hop; psychedelic/trip hop, club music, and stoner rap.

Discuss.

Wrong. How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?

There's still quite a scene of conscientiousness rap. Guys like Immortal Technique, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and to a lesser extent Aesop Rock & Killer Mike.
Guys who talk about varying relevant political and social issues.

I don't think bands like Clipping and Death Grips would fit very well under any of those 3 labels. You have to account for the small, but growing, trend of abrasive hip hop.

I remember when Aesop Rock + Kimya Dawson released a Folk-Rap album a few months ago. Remember it well.

the scene you are describing just seems more to be about what you are choosing to listen to as opposed to what's really out there.

I wouldn't put Joey Badass into any of those categories or Fred The Godson

^ whenever someone gives you that answer Norg, ask if they listen to brutal death metal or avant garde free-jazz? They say 'err..no' you say, well obviously you don't listen to everything.
That'll shut them up.
