Cormega "The True Meaning" Album Discussion
I used a random number generator to pick one of the albums out of the eight since no one voted this week.
Cormega - The True Meaning Introspective Verbal Graffiti Live Ya Life Ain't Gone Change True Meaning Thin Line Legacy Love in Love Out Come Up Built For This Soul Food Take These Jewels Endangered Species Therapy See What do you feel are the standout tracks? Do you feel like the production compliments the lyrics well? Also which of the two do you prefer related to this album? Do you see yourself listening to this album again a few months from now? Have you heard any of this artist's other mixtapes/albums and do you feel like this album stands up to the same quality as the others?

I've never checked any Cormega stuff out. I see on Amazon that this has special edition where it's released with his (out-of-print) debut as well. Might buy it up. Is this album any good? Have you heard it DJ?

Yeah, I heard it awhile ago but I need to re-listen to it. I used to joke all the time that Nas jacked his style and flow just as much as Nas claims that Jay rips off Biggie.

I gave it a once through but I will listen again so I have something to write about.

I'll listen. I haven't listened to the other album in the other thread tho because I'm feeling crappy today but I promise I'll get around to both.

I finished up Janet's album just need to do a short write up then I have to re-listen to this one again.
I'll put Wale up in the poll and if no one votes then I will just pick that album. The Gifted right? Vanity is my fave track obviously.

Yeah that one. I really like LoveHate Thing. Sounds a little old school.
And before it was overplayed, I really loved "Bad" But the Rihanna version.

This album touches a little bit on the beef that he had with Nas but for the most part with this album he moved on from it and only mentioned it once or twice.
Long story short, he was in the group The Firm with Nas and Nas replaced him for this dude Nature while Cormega was locked up. Cormega and Nas are so similar with their lyrics, beats and flows. Cormega should have been bigger than he was but he was more popular on the underground. "You my nigga when you hot and when the temperature change Now we enemies - 'til we entered the grave When I got signed to Def Jam, I offered you ten grand You say you didn't want it then you started actin funny It started with the cover, of YSB A picture of The Firm - everyone except me Then my boys disappeared, all fly and familiar That's when it was clear to me there wasn't no real love I was out The Firm, unless I signed a production deal which I didn't do, cause son that wasn't real I was never jealous of you, in fact I was proud of you I smiled when I heard you on _Live at the Barbeque_ I respect you as an artist though I'm no longer fond of you I gave you love from the heart - unlike the people surroundin you" Those lyrics are from "Love In Love Out" I can see myself listening to this album again in the future but not only this one the album before called The Realness as well. Stand out tracks for me were True Meaning, Verbal Graffiti, Take These Jewels and Love In Love Out.
