vince staples

doing enough to warrant his own thread

As a preliminary endorsement let me start off by acknowledging that vince stapeles has just 1 flow, but a la pusha t it works. He also hasn't benefitted from much in the way of production yet, but his cadence and lyrical content are hard as nails.

Here's some tracks I find worth checking out

Vince Staples Goes to Confession in His "Fire" Video | News | Pitchfork

his new single is hard as nails
the chorus loses flavor kinda quick

Flow is super annoying(except in the last track, kinda) but I like the production.

Underrated

Vince Staples definitely hasn't had the recognition that he deserves - his verse on Hive on Doris was enough to set him up there with the best but because he's not exclusively part of OFWGKTA he doesn't get as much credit as he should

Definitely looking forward to seeing more of him in the future

Hell Can Wait is potentially my favourite hip hop release of 2014. This guy is seriously going places, and I am so excited for his album. His subject matter is similiar to Kendrick's, but the beats and production on that EP are out of this world.

Anyone listen to Summertime '06 yet? I think it's definitely lived up to the hype it got for being his debut studio LP. I was kind of worried that he went a little overboard when I saw 20 tracks in the listing, but all in all it flows very well and imo there isn't much if any filler.

I first heard Vince like six years ago on the most immature(still great though) song on the earl album. It's been cool watching(listening?) to him grow up and become a 'socially conscious rapper'. I'm excited to listen to Summertime '06 because I think senorita is even doper than blue suede or hands up

I love how Vince has two types of flows: Laid back, and Laaaaid back.

It's absolutely my favorite rap album of the year so far. Really good stuff.

Do you consider "Hands Up" laid-back? I'm genuinely curious. That song's pretty intense, but that might just be the production and lyrics.
