Acoustic guitar rap?

So today me and my friend where jamming. He started strumming some basic chords and I improvised some rap lyrics over the chords. And surprisingly, it sounded pretty good.

Now I'm just looking for some folk-rap kind of stuff. Imagine early Bob Dylan songs like the "Times They Are A-Changing" with the lyrics rapped instead of sung. Are there such songs and bands? The main instrument should be strummed acoustic guitar.

Only Wyclef and Everlast come to mind, Oh and Flight of the concords

I gotta say though i think if you want to approach this style of rapping don't try to sample iconic folk songs instead try to create your own cause the thing about sampling already known songs is there is a chance you'll f*ck up the song and butcher it and some ppl will hate that cause they love the song as it is..

i honestly think it's best to either create your own songs like that or either sample more obscure songs that have a good rhythm for that kinda thing but i suggest you stay away from the big hits..

I wasn't talking about sampling the folk songs. I was just trying to explain what I want it to sound like.

K my bad, i just didn't like imagining someone rapping over a Bob dylan song..

That Uncluded song was great- especially because Kimya Dawson was there.

I'm sure you can find loads of acoustic covers of hip hop songs on Youtube but you are probably looking for original content.

Ah forgot about Gym Class Heroes but it's just an acoustic cover of their own song.

Certain Jack Johnson songs sound like borderline acoustic rap, at least in parts.

Check out "Cali Agents - Neva Forget" obviously they aren't a folk hip-hop group but in this particular track they rap over an acoustic guitar sample.

I think the band you may be looking for is 'Dizraeli and the Small Gods'. They don't sound like _old_ folk with rap lyrics, but they do sound like awesome.

I actually can't even click on those YouTube videos and can't tell what they are from my phone (plugin needed blah blah).. but if Gangstagrass hasn't been mentioned yet, they're ****in excellent. Lightning on the Strings and Rappalachia are both really cool albums, and here's a great one off track.

Fugees - Vocab, from their debut album Blunted On Reality.
Fugees and Lauryn Hill often employ acoustic guitars
