I made this thread a few weeks back:http://www.musicbanter.com/rap-hip-h...ver-heard.html

There are also several group specific posts in this forum. Id just browse through page by page and look for artist names you don't know.

Micco 02-16-2015 04:50 PM

Lol Hopsin isn't really underground just because he isn't on the radio, I'd imagine dude has at least a million people that are fans/heard of him. He's definitely not under the radar.

i included him because Most people My age have no idea who he is.

You can't really count Tyler because he's had mainstream success.

Why the laugh? Not sure how to take it.

Goofle 02-23-2015 06:23 PM

The implication that Chance, MF DOOM, Tyler, K.R.I.T., Hopsin etc. are "underground".

DwnWthVwls 02-23-2015 08:20 PM

I'd call them underground. The way it's used around here is anyone who doesn't get mainstream radio play.

To me underground is basically indie hiphop.

My point was that besides Country **** ive never heard him on the radio. also Nobody in the south is even trying to mess with that type of sound as far as radio play. Down here most want that Migos BS

i've only heard a few macklemore tracks. i don't dig thrift shop, but his feature on cunninlynguist's close your eyes wasn't terrible, and he has another song or two with geologic which is kind of cool. not someone i'd go out of my way to listen to regularly though.

did he change his "style" dramatically to adhere to his growing fanbase or something since then for you to give him that "whack" label? i barely know anything about the guy.

hoodie allen's not my thing

DwnWthVwls 03-06-2015 10:34 AM

Macklemore changed up his game a lot since thrift shop, the sound is similar but the content changed (I havent heard The Heist, I'm basing this off his radio hits). Observe:

Inhale Deep

Magic

Hold Your Head Up

Micco 03-06-2015 03:39 PM

Hoodie Allen is soooooo wack.

DwnWthVwls 03-06-2015 05:59 PM

Just about every artist mentioned in this thread is whack.

AltRocks 03-11-2015 09:31 PM

Brother Ali's good.

TheMainMan 03-14-2015 09:01 PM

i never understood how aseop rock could still be underground despite how long hes been out. Also just on how good he is as a rapper.

i would also like to add MURS to my earlier list and the group Jedi Mind Tricks
