FWIW I don't like Straight Outta Compton aside from two tracks but I really like the second album. It has the better beats IMO. |

i agree, nothing is perfect, but honestly i really wouldn't change anything about it.. but do you rate 2001 production over the chronic? cause that's the impression i was getting
i'll even take elif4zaggin over 2001 edit- should clarify, by production i mean overall vibe from the beats... not production value in the more technical sense since obviously that continues to improve along with technology, simply as a function of time. |

you could be right... i honestly don't know much about the technical side of production/recording technology... but what i was asking was basically "do you prefer the beats on 2001" rather than do you prefer it overall as an album
the distinction i was making about the recording quality vs the beats overall is that to me, there are some hip hop albums that sound relatively low quality/lo-fi and yet i prefer them that way... sort of adds to the aura of the music for me. i think the simplicity of the early g-funk beats (see: the chronic, regulate, efil4zaggin, some too $hort records) and even of some later g-funk influenced music like master p's ice cream man or 2pac's don killuminati (which were released 2 years after doggystyle) actually adds to the music. for example.. i would say i like the beat on "bitches aint ****" more than anything on 2001. it doesn't sound as polished or fine-tuned... but i actually like it better that way. just sounds raw and gangster as **** to me. |
I only liked 3 songs from this thingy
I get this was just a spur o the moment lets make a soundtrack cus he prob had like 300 songs and ideas just pilling up because he has not released a abum since like what 2001 sounds like Artys Mature Dre to me not a Classic Hip hop album |
Didn't know anything about it, I will check it out! Thanks.

It was all right on the first spin. I haven't been into hip hop for quite some time now, so I find it hard to digest.
Nice and gritty like horrorcore, but very offbeat and progressive sounding, not really my thing, but it may grow on me. |
