I'm all for appropriating black culture (whether it exists or not, my mom says otherwise)

For those that don't know...i don't wanna hate but you can look up his past for yourself(he certainly wasn't drinking 40's on the corner)

there are lotsa perpetrators in music...a great deal of music artists invest a great deal of effort to cultivate an image that might not necessarily be in harmony with their true identity.

You seen this cat Stitches or whatever who got stuck tryin'a roll up on The Game?? Iunno how that came into my youtube feed but it did. That dude's even more of an affront to the culture appropriation than this guy. Iunno much about Stitches 'cause he doesn't really pique my interest as the type of character who's even worth investigating.

It happens in all genres...I just wanted some video about how the majority of rappers are broke 'cause they try to live off of royalties but that's not where the money is to be made and they blow their advancements some new threads, a couple chains, and a whip and bam...royalties get ate up right there. For most the money comes from tour shows.

I'm sure it's the same with other genres and labels/promotions. Why do people need a front tho? I get how if you need the gimmick--sure why not? But if you're just a talented artist--what's shameful about being you? Iunno why people feel the need to front...

I hate the whole argument surrounding people having real life experiences that relate to the lyrics of their music. If your claiming the stuff is true that's one thing, but if you just like that kinda of music who the fuck cares?

~2:30 they talk about the OP

I agree. Do people care that Rush never lived in the year 2112 when guitars were forbidden, or that Led Zeppelin never actually visited Mordor? Why should people care whether or not some rapper actually was in a gang or whatever?

not that anybody owes you an explanation but maybe 'cause some people crave a degree of authenticity.

why do you care about what it is for which others care? That question is asked in a hypocritical vein itself.

There should be some authenticity behind the music your making. If your rapping per say about "blasting people with your 12 guage" than you should at the very least have some sort of past connection to the streets.

Otherwise your a fake profiting off the misery of other people's lives.

It has been argued that the influence of gangster rap had an adverse impact on African American ghettos in the 90's, so any white kid from the suburbs who tries to profit off of it, because he likes the fantasy, should be given a swift kick in the F'n head.

I didn't bother to listen to the whole interview but the guy looks and sounds like a pussy, he'd be sucking dick within the hour if he ever had to spend time in the pen.

GTA? The Godfather? the list goes on and on and on.. Do you want Necro slicing up bodies and Cannibal Corpse fucking dead bodies?

The people that made those things are profiting off the very same fantasy. Please spare me the profiting off other people's misery.

GTA is a video game it doesn't involve social interaction and death metal is genre that everyone knows is based on fantasy.

Gangster rap is music that should come from the streets, not some white kid playing Compton in the basement of his parents comfy suburban home.
