Adam WarRock: Nerd Rapper Extraordinaire

If you're a nerd, you have the basic ability to like hip hop, and have always dreamed of blasting songs about the X-Men in the hood with your windows down, then Adam WarRock is the answer to your prayers. I don't think the dude has any actual albums, but he has a million mixtapes and singles that you can download for free from his website.

He covers everything from comic books, to video games, to nerd shows like Dr. Who. I think he might have some songs about non-geek stuff but who ****ing gives a ****?

Any nerds who ain't tryin' to hear can eat ****.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-10-2016 12:26 PM

Not sure if you're aware but there's a whole subgenre of hip-hop dedicated to being nerdy as possible called nerdcore. I can't give you any recs cause it's not really my ideal genre but if you check here Wikipedia of White Nerds Who Can't Rap you might be able to find more of the sort.

The Batlord 06-10-2016 12:33 PM

Lol I'll have to check it out, but I legitimately jam out to Adam WarRock beyond his nerdy lyrics. If these other dudes got jams then I'll be all about it though.

grindy 06-10-2016 12:39 PM

Don't think this could be legitimately considered to be nerdcore, but some themes are definitely there. And it's pretty amazing musically as well.

Adam WarRock doesn't come off as "bad" by any means, but there's something about rappers who sound overly white that I just can't deal with. Does that make me racist? I hope.

Agreed. I dig white german and russian rappers, but when rapping in english, black voices just sound better to me.

Do black people even exist in Germany and Russia?

He's just fun though. His lyrics might not have the same impact to a non-comic nerd, but "Magneto Was Right" legitimately hits hard for me, and would even if it weren't about a comic character. And he's got **** about heroes you wouldn't think anyone would make a song about, like Hawkeye, War Machine, She-Hulk, Spider-Woman, etc, that make him a goldmine for any true comic book nerd.

And he's Asian btw. Racist.

Quite a few in Germany, some fine rappers among them. In Russia on the other hand black people are very rare.

Strangely enough I would have thought it'd be the other way around, not sure why.

Not gonna argue that, but white rappers can sound more casual in a way that allows for fun. Asher Roth might be softer than baby ****, but "I Love College" is still some chill ass bong music.

Pretty sure "sunarefa" is Russian slang for Eurasians.

They claim it's a slur for arabs, but I've never heard it and the only search results in google are referencing the song.

I actually liked a fair bit of Asher's work. I dig Mac Miller, El-P, Pouya, and Apathy too and they all sound pretty white. I think the music just has to have some sort of substance to it other than just being rap music that appeals to white people because it's made by other white people i.e Hoodie Allen or G-Eazy.

Might just be a local slur from their Russian white trash town. I don't imagine that these dudes are particularly metropolitan. Heard about them from Lords of Chaos BTW. That book loves to rep every racist band it can dredge up.

I used to be more about Def Jux and Rhymesayers, but now a lot of those groups are pretty lame to me, but I still get enjoyment out of **** like Cage El-P, Brother Ali, and Atmosphere (though less from the last two). And don't forget that Aesop Rock is a cracker from Def Jux, even if I'm not the biggest fan.

I'll have to check this dude out.

Already posted this, but it's seriously one of my favorite rap songs ever, and since we have a lot of the same tastes then I'll just post it again for your benefit.

About Dr. Octopus becoming the new Spider-Man. It was a thing for a couple years and it was awesome.

Last Emperor - Secret Wars is the best thing I've ever heard from this sub-genre.. This guy is pretty cool, but idk enough about any of this stuff to fully appreciate it.

I.e. wee little bat doesn't have to be scared of listening to black voices thanks to non threatening white rappers.
