is S.Korea the only country that is huge on hip hop more than any other country?

Janszoon 10-18-2017 05:27 AM

Im only familiar with one South Korean rapper, but I will say hip hop seems to be pretty popular in a lot of countries.

grindy 10-18-2017 10:49 AM

Hip-Hop is pretty big in Germany and often tops the charts afaik.

If that is what passes for "hip-hop" music in South Korea, then their populace is getting severely disserviced. They have the internet. They have access to ACTUAL music. In the age of information, ignorance is a choice.

EDIT: I'm referring to the link in your sig.

I'll take this chance to rep Uochi Toki from Italy. They don't seem get any love around here

Pretentious purism intensifies

Was thinking Canada and the UK might be the other way round but went for UK.

Canada has some big hitters though. Who is the biggest Australian artist? Iggy?

UK has probably no big hitters but lots of well known names.

UK 4th?

DwnWthVwls 11-28-2017 04:53 PM

I thought we were talking about the scene in general not popcharr success.

Cuthbert 11-29-2017 02:16 AM

I am hence why I put UK before Canada.

Local rap scene of Thornton Heath endz.

Am in two minds about posting this, but this is where I'm from and worked with these people on the local music scene, I was that white boy at R.A.P Academy in Thornton Heath with my guitar back then, drunk and 17/18.

In 2015, I saw them filming this as I stepped out of the train station walking home fresh from work in my construction gear, I was on the phone to a good friend I knew from Soho at the time, and I said 'I don't know who they are, but look at their chains/bling'..
Turns out it was promoting Straight Outta Compton (2015) that movie there.

I grew up here. Still have ties to the area.
Literally, my station, my roads, my everything, here; am like 'Hello?'

High Focus Records running the scene at the moment.
