Tom MacDonald
Tom MacDonald https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...1518197956507/ [Despite his douchebag-like appearance, I assure that his content is worthwhile. Please don't judge the book by its cover.] A friend of mine recently introduced me to the 29-year-old Canadian rapper Tom MacDonald. His raps and themes seem to go against the grain, questioning social norms and the status quo. I'm not super keen on his delivery, but the content is definitely there. From what I can surmise, he has 7 albums to his credit [Genius says 8]. I will post music videos in the next post. https://i.scdn.co/image/0f8ea928cbe9...cd793244896a70 ^ LeeAnn's Son (stylized as "LEEANNSSXN") [2014] https://t2.genius.com/unsafe/879x0/h....960x960x1.jpg ^ Bad Dream Mad Again II [2014] https://direct.rhapsody.com/imageser...23/500x500.jpg ^ Dream People And The Whiskey Wars [2015] https://t2.genius.com/unsafe/879x0/h....957x957x1.jpg ^ MacBeth [2015] https://is2-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/t.../600x600bf.jpg ^ See You Tomorrow [2015] https://t2.genius.com/unsafe/879x0/h....500x500x1.jpg ^ Therapy [2017] https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...pg?format=500w ^ Deathreats [2018] LINKS: Official Website / YouTube 1 / YouTube 2 / Facebook / Instagram / Twitter / Genius |

Nice!
Thanks for the well- delivered presentation If I change is a trippy video -kiss I liked it |
I love "Dear Rappers." I want to hear more from him in that vein.
|
Tom MacDonald is corny trash.
|
He's not for everyone, obviously.
|
The only people that I know of that like him are juggalos. Juggalos that like him and Hopsin.
"I didn't put your neck in no noose" LOL. |
If he would ghost-write for someone who actually has some vocal talent, that would be awesome.

**** him, his lyrics and his white victim complex. He's an embarrassment to all of us beautiful braided beasts. |

"Black pride is a movement in response to dominant white cultures and ideologies that encourages black people to celebrate black culture and embrace their African heritage." "White pride is a motto primarily used by white separatist, white nationalist, neo-Nazi and white supremacist organizations in order to signal racist or racialist viewpoints." That's complete fucking bullshit, and you know it. They are saying that it's okay for blacks to be proud of their ancestry, but not for white people. I'm not saying that white people haven't done some fucked up shit, but so have black people, and every other race on this planet. Is it right to judge everyone by the sins of their ancestors? |

The biased definitions provided by google hurt your feeeeeeeeeelings. Nobody wants you to be proud of being a caucaaaaaaaaasian. This is the pinnacle of racism, the most ****ed up atrocity happening in America right now. Cops shooting unarmed black people, the mass genocides of natives, tearing apart Mexican families, the continued hate crimes towards middle easterners, none of this compares to the problems of hurtful comments some people say about white people. |

How does his victim complex relate to rappers saying 'nostalgia'? |

I gave Thomas another try and watched exposure and here is my response to it.
1. Tons of gangsters go to college. It's called bettering your situation. Look at 2Chainz. Grew up in a ****ed up situation and pulled himself out and put himself through college. He's very open and proud of it. ****ting on gangster rappers for doing that is counterproductive to the message you're trying to send. Maybe because you don't actually give a ****. This isn't about exposure, it's about 'talking up'. That's when you trash people who are doing better than you for attention. You find some reason to belittle them to feed your superiority complex. 2. The media isn't putting out these drug addicts to make drug addicts. They're jumping on the opportunity to make money because this is what's becoming popular.Just as every trend does, the drug addicted soundcloud style comes straight from the underground. It gained popularity because kids relate to it. These rappers aren't industry plants or causers of our culture but rather symptoms. They are a reflection of an epidemic of mental illness and the opiate crises. A lot of them are open about their depression and addiction. Many of them tell their fans not to follow in their foot steps. for somebody who claims to be 'conscious' you fail to recognize or address any of this, instead opting out for a way to talk down on these kids. This isn't about righteousness, it's about self righteousness and feeling holier than though. 3. This whole "I'm so edgy and offensive, watch out, I speak my mind" farce is just a delusional appeal to your ego. Sad reality is that YOU are the one who can't handle other opinions. YOU"RE the one telling people not to speak their opinion of YOU. YOU made a whole song WHINING about other people's opinions of you. He'res a concept you might not truly understand. You're ability and freedom to have opinions will elicit other opinions. This whole act you're putting on is an ironic self defensive mechanism to cover your own inability to accept other points of view. To the sad point where you literally admit to not wanting to have discussions about your opinion and saying that you want people who disagree with you to be silent with out a hint of self awareness to truly realize the irony and hypocrisy of this song. And that's why we think you're ****ing corny. You get lumped into the Hopsin and Hed PE category of people that act preachy and holier than though pretending to be conscious with out a hint of self consciousness. 4. They are not wearing dresses to feminize men. This is the most toxic and sexist piece of bull**** because you ****s imply that women are weak. They're just products of a new nihilistic movement of hip hop inspired by rock stars that came before them. They're challenging cultural stereo types by saying, "hey, I can look like this and still be strong, and still be a man". |
Apparently Tom MacDonald is beefing with Violent J from The Insane Clown posse over Nova Rockefeller [Tom MacDonald's girlfriend].

I just heard about it, so it was new to me. Also, I'm getting kind of sick of Tom MacDonald. He has content, but his cadence and the way he raps, it's like he doesn't give a shit.
|
He has some good messages, and some not so good ones. He's got more talent than I can muster so I'm not going to throw my stones too hard, but after listening to the videos in this thread, I'm good.

Of course Merit liked Tom McDonald. I hope Tommy boy comes out with a song about how Ashkenazi Jews aren't real Jews just for him.
|
i can't find the right words to describe it but dude pretty much gives me mad covert racism vibes
|
More like overt
|
|
to me this is an example of music becoming more about more specific identity politics than the past. And more cynically.
|
A good selection
