She's 17 (12 when she started her career) and her voice is every bit as soulful as any veteran singer in the business.

yes, but still, sooner or later she's gonna have to start producing some good music....a good voice can only carry you some of the way....hmm....sometimes i really don't know if something i say in english is right....carry you some of the way.......i dunno.......

This is where being attractive and rich comes in handy.

I think she needs to stop trying too hard at being the new Janis Joplin and concentrate on developing a style of her own.
At 17 she is still very young but if she wants to make songs that make an impact on people, she needs to change.
Otherwise, she will never make being the singing veteran that she has the potential to be.

I don't see anything wrong with the music she's producing. I heard her for the first time a few years ago while I was christmas shopping in a tiny garden store. I was compelled to ask who the store clerk was listening too. That rarely happens.

adidasss 08-25-2005 03:57 PM

ok, fair enough, i think her songs are bland, they obviously hit the right spot with some people

Raine 08-25-2005 08:01 PM

I personally like her music mainly because how her voice sounds.
Her song You Had Me is what really got me listening to her.

That and her music has energy and her perofrmances are kinda hypnotic. In the way that Jennifer Lopez's rear end is. You can't help but stare/listen to her.

TheBig3 08-25-2005 09:06 PM

Why is she trying to be the new Janis Joplin? Because she did a cover medly with melissa ethridge? That was the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Secondly, I'd recall when we were 17, that we wrote what might otherwise be considered **** songs. I liked Don't cha wanna ride. And I think the stripes cover was pretty good.

Why? Because her record company recognised the similarity and in their wisdom decided to market her as the new Janis Joplin...thats why!
Now that was stupid!

You made that up. unless you work for her record company you'd have no way of knowing that. You're the only person I've seen make the comparison, where are your facts sir?

And I don't know that she writes them, but she probably has influence over...

First you imply I'm stupid...then you accuse me of making something up!
You don't even know me.
To say I made that up is well harsh! Firstly... I dont bullshit and secondly why the fuck would I want to make that up?
And no! I don't work for her record company.
As far as providing hard facts are concerned, it's true to say I have'nt seen it carved in stone, so I have to admit I can't support it as a 100% fact.
I can't even remember exactly where I got this info from, whether it was a magazine article , a conversation even...whatever.
I don't understand your hostility...sir!

adidasss 08-26-2005 02:02 PM

oh don't worry about him

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-26-2005 02:15 PM

Nice voice , shame her material is bland as hell

adidasss 08-26-2005 02:18 PM

wait a minute, is this the first time we actually agreed on something?

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-26-2005 02:19 PM

Looks like it

adidasss 08-26-2005 02:22 PM

shall we have a party to celebrate?

SosSt.Jimmy 08-27-2005 11:50 AM

She's alright, but what was the deal with her doing nothing but covers on her first CD? What's really sad though is that it's better than the songs she tried to make up herself. She needs a writer and quick!

NaNaNer 12-26-2006 02:47 PM

I saw her perform last year..and she was much better live..maybe I was drunk..I dont know..but her voice was very enticing and almost saultry...but I wouldnt buy anything she recorded.

[MERIT] 12-26-2006 02:48 PM

Eww, she kinda like a Shakira wannabe, but w/o the hips.

NaNaNer 12-26-2006 02:50 PM

I think I was drunk and Sangria and stoned on Mexican Schwag..who knows but I got really hot after she played..

Had to have been the wine.
