You already have a good couple of lists going.
If you really like Madness, perhaps you would like The English Beat or Bad Manners.
Johnny Socko and Mad Caddies have some songs with catchy horns.
If you like MU330 and Assorted Jelly Beans, you might like the Blue Meanies or Jeffries Fan Club.
For a little more variety check out Skankin' Pickle.
Cheers

i saw Chris Murray last summer in colorado , he was solo9 and the **** was great he does have a band in LA , and for King Django, i have a couple tracks on a collab cd
good stuff

hookers with machineguns 11-15-2005 10:33 PM

Yeah King Django is pretty good. And, I like the Aggrolites too.

half_baked87 11-15-2005 10:39 PM

slackers, common rider, op ivy, mad caddies, big D and the kid table, blue meanies

i know some of them are ska-punk bands. but isnt it really all about the horn section?

All_Nite_Dinah 11-16-2005 06:29 AM

No it is NOT all about the horns section at all. If slipknot got a horn section would they be playing ska? Hell na, so why do you thin ka punk band with a horn section is ska? Your lucky I don't have the time to go off on a tangent right now, but I've said it all before and don't have the time now. SO look here instead http://musicbanter.com/showthread.php?t=5639

oo, i'm intimidated. of course if slipknot got a horn section they wouldn't be ska, pull you're head out of you're ass i was making a generalization. i said SKA-PUNK, its got elements of both, and the horn section is what gives it the ska feel, along with the fast reggae riffs between more punk oriented power-chord type riffs. its still got the feel of ska.

All_Nite_Dinah 11-17-2005 07:18 AM

Why would horns give it a ska feel? Why not a jazz feel? Or a classical feel? Or a bop feel? You do realize ska isn't the only music with horns right? Do you also know that ska isn't enirely based on horns? More so guitar than horns any day. Why would a fast reggae riff be related to ska? Most ska isn't really that blazing fast hence the reason it draws an lder crowd. But anyway I don't know why your being so ****y and stuff or why you posted a bunch of "ska punk" (with exception of the slackers) in a ska forum anway.

free_2_skank 11-18-2005 06:54 AM

People are free to post what they wish. I mean, I can understand stand where you're coming from. I feel the same way. That ska is not just about the horns and mainly about the guitar/bass/drum beat. But still, let him/her post as they please!
