Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
This isn't exactly a 'ska' form, but a great band no matter what. Its like 8 asians with guitars, horns, keybords, etc, great kinda swing rock music (and they were great on stage at Bonnaroo 2004).
check em out |
well if it ain't Ska i wonder what is ;) have a check at "Stomping on Down Beat Alley" and tell me ^^
well i agree it's strange to hear ska in Japanese lol |
i always thought they were ska, since ska was in their name

I happened to hear Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra's music while I was at a sandwich shop last week. The friendly sandwich artist told me their name, since he was the one to whom the CD belonged. He said ska is very popular in Japan, which I didn't know. He was also very pleased I knew what ska was. I guess Iowa doesn't have a lot of ska fans.
I felt their music made nice, peppy, simplistic-sounding sandwich-eating music, although the songs were very repetitive. That's probably to be predicted, since they all had the ska beat. Here's one of their songs with Puffy (?)...I guess Puffy are the two women singers singing with the stereotypical Japanese little girl voice: And here's one of their harsher, more frenzied-sounding songs, which I prefer: I like to use ska songs to inspire me to practice my trumpet. |
They have a new album out: Paradise Blue which is really good once again.
Japan does have a love of Ska. The Japonicas are great too. |
