Like Sublime

Can someone suggest a band to me that sounds like Sublime?

I loved their music =(

sleepy jack 05-14-2006 04:49 PM

I've heard people say 311 are similar to sublime, but I havnt heard much by them. Um, you could check out some reggae. You'd probaly like The Science Of Selling Yourself Short by Less Then Jake. Thats all I Got =/

swim 05-14-2006 06:13 PM

slightly stoopid is similar theyre ok. The Toasters is just plain good ska. Streetlight Manisto and Catch 22 are uptempo and catchy. Authority Zero is poppy goodness.

I would go with 311. Less Than Jake sounds nothing like Sublime, outside The Science of Selling Yourself Short.IMO

I think you may be selling yourself short on your selections http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...p/badteeth.gif

You could try

Goldfinger
Less Than Jake
No Doubt (old stuff)

for slightly similar sound

incesticide 06-14-2006 05:17 PM

why not just listen to sublime?
or find a cover band?

swim 06-14-2006 05:18 PM

Why bump an old thread that's irrelevant because the starter doesn't post anymore? And besides he/she was just looking for recommendations.

rasta-craze 04-23-2007 02:33 PM

you would proably like less than jake no doubt b4 she became a sell out reel big fish phish maybe alot of the up beat bob marley sounds like sublime theres sublime trubute bands out there like bad fish and long beach dub all stars and krs-1 is more rap that anything but its got brad in it

Hood 04-25-2007 12:33 PM

Yeah 311 to a certain degree is like sublime (some people say 311 is a rip-off of sublime), Long Beach Dub All-Stars has the remaining members of sublime in there, Long Beach Shortbus (eric wilson's band) slightly stoopid, Voodoo Glow Skulls are a good ska band

VCK 04-25-2007 03:36 PM

OPM have been compared to Sublime, and although they don't really sound similar per se, both bands combine Ska, Reggae, Dub, Punk and Hip-Hop with a special little touch of Pop which makes their songs so catchy.

Sublime are the superior band though.

Sublime is a really popular band in the college community that I go to. There are a few local reggae/dub bands around.

Some of the popular ones are:

SOJA hxxp://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=185 7863

5th Generation

Badfish is the most popular Sublime cover band. Other similiar bands are Slightly Stoopid and Pepper. Check 'em out.

Nirvana594 05-26-2007 10:54 AM

pepper sounds simmilar to sublime

bloodorflies 05-26-2007 07:02 PM

try long beach dub all stars

and long beach shortbus.....i think both those bands have the bass player from sublime.

newjuke junkie 06-04-2007 09:56 AM

You can try "Save Ferris" they have a similar sound to me.

jackhammer 06-04-2007 02:32 PM

Try:

MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES
ALPHA BOY BAND
FISHBONE (late 80's/early 90's)
BABY HEAD (new U.K band) www.myspace.com/babyhead
SKANKT www.myspace.com/skankt

For reggae tinged ska:BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH
For punk tinged ska: CAPDOWN (First two albums)
SKANKT WW

bloodorflies 06-06-2007 06:58 AM

maybe RX bandits...thats what i've heard anyway.

jackhammer 06-08-2007 03:00 PM

Big D and the kids table-just got hold of their Strictly Rude album-highly recommended. It's a bit more mellow than previous bands that were mentioned but still no less enjoyable-holler if you want it upped.

H*R316 06-20-2007 08:42 PM

Yaay, Authority Zero.

If you want a good AZ song, download (or buy) Everyday. Sounds bland, but it's a realy cool song.

miss_b 06-26-2007 12:51 PM

you chould check out illScarlett

joyboyo53 06-26-2007 02:20 PM

if my mind serves me correctly slightly stoopid were like 311 proteges or something. 311 is not the same but they are similar, using more rap than raegae but somewhat similar rock sound.

Blue Sunday 08-20-2007 10:50 AM

Pepper
Long Beach Dub All Stars

*I HIGHLY recommend Pepper, they are awesome. Some songs in particular to DL: Green Hell, Ashes, Border Town, Stone Love, Tradewinds, Punk Rock Cowboy, Zicky`s Song *

jackhammer 08-20-2007 12:30 PM

What is the story behind Long Beach Dub All Stars. I have one of theirs and love it. Is it a bunch of muso's from particular bands or a compilation?

Blue Sunday 08-21-2007 07:14 AM

Bud Gaugh and Erik Wilson basically started this band. The band broke up and members went on to create other bands like Slightly Stoopid, LB short bus...I dont know too much more on it though.

BluesyRican 08-27-2007 07:28 PM

Don't think I've seen Mystic Roots mentioned, pretty good band.
