Some of my favs for Ska punk and third wave ska:
Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Mustard Plug, The Specials, Bob Marley and the Wailers' first album, Suicide Machines, Fishbone, Skarface, the Skatalities, the Planet Smashers, whatever. |
New Groove Formation
You should check these guys out, a breath of fresh Ska!!
|
Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Streetlight Manifesto, The Specials, The English Beat, early Marley, Reel Big Fish but really I find that for a genre that is so cool in theory, there are really not as many good ska bands that I would hope for in reality. For me I think a lot of ska tends to blend into whiny pop punk way more often than it should. Even bands like Reel Big Fish can be a little whiny in subject matter for me.

Less Than Jake, by far my favorite.
A very, very distant second is Pepper. |
If you guys like old school, soulful ska/reggae you should check out my band...
Here is an example of our tunes, a little more dubby: youtu.be/G-ThR-HVPdg |
I've barely seen any Sublime in this link! Streetlight, Catch 22, Pepper, 311 on occasion, are all good new wave ska, yo.
