Bedouin Soundclash

Ok...I'm listening to a cd a mate at work did for me and on it are a band called Bedouin Soundclash and I'm liking what I hear.

Canadian outfit, best described as tuneful ska on what I've heard so far.

Looking for more info...anyone a fan?

I don't really like them and my dislike has only increased since this fat chick I hate likes them but heres their new album "Street Gospels":

Ta very much. :)

Yeah I have been a fan since they released SOUNDING A MOSAIC, which is their second album. Avoid their debut, it's very dissapointing.

Sounding A Mosaic

I still haven't heard anything more than When The Night Feels My Song. And I didn't have to discover that for myself because it was everywhere a couple of years ago. I feel so lazy. Which song should I go for next? That one's lovely so something with the same kind of sound would be nice.

Worth listening to the whole lot, then? Thanks. I'll probably give it a go tonight.

yea i'm pals with a player in the band they're a good group for sure. just about the only ska-related band i'll listen to, good energy at their live shows too. they nail a great cover of New Year's Day

gattocake 12-05-2007 12:47 PM

I saw them in Ireland a couple of years back. They were excellent. Maybe could have a few more bongos and other stuff goin on onstage but they were great all the same - the new album is quite good too - check it out if you can. I cant find Root Fire anywhere tho

jackhammer 12-05-2007 12:50 PM

A couple of people have mentioned ska, and to be honest I cant hear a huge amount of it. I suppose they are a reggae pop band as there sound is quite palatable. I think their latest album is their best yet. Good solid easy listening.

MURDER JUNKIE 12-05-2007 12:53 PM

I saw them this past week, it was............................average. I just don't find it a high energy as say LTJ, Planet Smashers, Catch 22 etc that makes you want to skank your ass off, most of the people there including myself looked bored. They do get high marks for The Clash covers though.

I'm not saying that they are bad as I do enjoy their music, but to go to a show I would have preferred any of the three mentioned above

My 2 cents anyhoo

gattocake 12-05-2007 12:53 PM

Ska can be excellent.. Sounding a Mosaic was more solid reggae then the new one i think. The new one is quality but it took me a few listens to appreciate it.

MURDER JUNKIE 12-05-2007 12:57 PM

High marks for getting Darryl Jennifer to produce, I was hoping he'd be at the show but no such luck for me :(

jackhammer 12-05-2007 12:59 PM

That's good ska:

You started disliking a band more because someone else liked them...man thats kind of sad

Check_The_OR 07-14-2008 01:01 AM

This is one of my favourite groups right now, seen them live twice, both times were real fun shows,

some songs I'd highly recommend are:
santa monica, mandrake root, shadow of a man, jeb rand, nothing to say, walls fall down, trinco dog, 12:59 lullaby, gunships

LordMadness 07-16-2008 11:05 PM

It's pretty good, I like it, just not my style. Ty for posting about them though.

FaSho 07-17-2008 10:26 AM

i just saw them on monday...and there live show is amazing

adarlingshot 04-01-2011 03:51 PM

their first two albums are great, then...not so much

AyChispas 04-15-2012 06:17 AM

I love this band. You should hear Criminal, Rude Boy Don't Cry, Brutal Hearts, 12:59 Lullaby and Gunships. Or just get the Sounding a Mosaic-album, it's their best in my opinion.

Arya Stark 04-16-2012 11:53 PM

I don't know WHY I know "Rude Boy Don't Cry" but I recall it being one of my favorite songs in high school.

I THOUGHT it was one of the songs on a soundtrack for a show I used to watch, but I can't find it, and I wouldn't know how to go about that.

Either way, I love that song and I would love to listen to this band more.

AyChispas 04-18-2012 07:28 AM

Oh yes, "Rude Boy Don't Cry" is one of my favorites along with "Criminal".

Arya Stark 04-18-2012 10:23 AM

I don't know any of their other songs, but I'll look it up!

AyChispas 04-18-2012 03:31 PM

You should! I wish I could go back in time and discover them again for the first time.... *sigh*

Oddly enough I played Sounding A Mosaic at work tonight as it's not harmful on their gentle ears (bless them) and I haven't heard it for a few years now. Forgot how good it was for relatively commercial music.
