Default Fishbone

I might have dropped this in the wrong place but learnt a great bassline by these the other day. 'Bonin' in the boneyard' I think it was called, and there was no thread for them. So I figured either I've not sucessfully used the search bar or there needed to be one.

Fishbone is cool and they deserved to be bigger IMO. And Bonin' in the Boneyard is funky as hell... wicked bassline.

'Truth And Soul' was one of my favourite albums as a lad and I return to it now and again. Subsequent albums were patchy and they never quite realised their potential. They deserved to be as big as RHCP and they were more eclectic too.

Why does Fishbone have such a short thread? They ****ing rock! I'm just now getting into them and I'm totally digging the bass playing of Norwood Fisher...

My favorite music video?

YouTube - Fishbone - Sunless Saturday

My favorite song of theirs is 'Bonin' In the Boneyard', but sadly it does not have a video on youtube with studio quality. Here's a kickass bass cover of the song though:

From the classic Truth and Soul album:

Also from the same album but it's just called 'One Day'. I have the album if anyone needs it.

truth and soul and chim chims badass revenge are both amazing records. I love how they can take so many different types of music and blend them together into their songs and still be original.

All true for me too - ironically a lot of kids in the late 80s/early 90s (such as myself) were probably exposed to Fishbone just because RHCP hyped them so much.

I don't know I think they were pretty big in their own right. I remember Sunless Saturday and Swim getting a fair bit of play here. Plus the lead singer made the cover of High Times (LOL not that that's main stream success. Just tried Googling for pics of the hemp suit that he wore for the shoot but no luck.)
