I think my all time favourite reggae song is Bob Marley's One Love. It's 3 minutes of unadulterated and infectious joy.

Tell me you don't feel a little happier now. You can't.

till the world ends by Brittney spears

Mr. Charlie 11-19-2013 12:25 PM

I'm so stupid I youtubed Till The World Ends. It ain't reggae. But it has had almost 123 million plays.

Gavin B. 11-20-2013 06:16 AM

Brittney Spears is a reggae artist? I hope not.

Psychedub Dude 11-24-2013 02:51 PM

Def one of my all time favorites for sure

Mr. Charlie 11-25-2013 05:40 PM

For sho, the song has such a hop to it its impossible not to bop your head along haha :3

So spacey, I really dig u-Roy's vocals

Gavin B. 11-30-2013 08:01 PM

Papa Levi's Mi God Mi King is some of the fastest toasting I've ever heard. Levi goes into turbo charge about half way through the song.

Sugar Minnott's Rub-a-Dub Style was a gigantic dancehall hit in Jamaica in the early 80s.

A penni walli is a Jamaican term for tiny little fairies you see before your eyes when you get hit on the head. In the song Penni Walli, Eek A Mouse recounts the comical story of his bicycle crash with a motor cycle which knocked him to the ground and he saw "stars and penni walli."

My favorite dub song - Scientist - Dance of the Vampires. Favorite dub artist in general, next to maybe Max Romeo or King Tubby.

Psychedub Dude 12-04-2013 11:30 AM

One of my favorite new school reggae acts, these guys put on such a powerful performance

Mr. Charlie 12-04-2013 07:17 PM

This thread is my favourite thing on Music Banter. It's a window to good music.

Psychedub Dude 12-06-2013 11:52 AM

Glad to hear it Mr.Charlie! :thumb:

Now I know I've posted a lot about The Dirty Heads before, but here's a another dump of some more of my favorites of theirs. I love their sound.

Joe Higg's Unity Is Power was recently reissued. Hard to pick favorite songs on it but I really love these two.

Mr. Charlie 12-08-2013 02:01 AM

Love those Joe Higgs tracks. Such an authentic sound.

Can you recommend me a good album of his? Cheers. :)

You can't go wrong with his Unity Is Power. His first album, Life of Contradiction, is also very good. I've been wanting to pick up 3rd release, Triumph, but I think it's out of print on vinyl and never has been on CD.

Mr. Charlie 12-08-2013 08:19 PM

A thousand thank yous. :)

This one is fantastic. More of the same please.

Well I don't really know, I listen to a lot. My dub library consists of a ****ton of massive Trojan box sets, and Scientist, Lee "Scratch" Perry, King Tubby albums. I dig the hell out of Roots Radics, sly & the revolutionaries, etc. Lotta good songs.

THIS ONE, is god damn awesome though.

King Tubby is the ****. Sucks that a lot of the best dub albums are missing from streaming platforms for some reason.
