Anybody have any reggae or dub bands that lie on the more rock or punk side of things? I've been listening to The Clash and a lot of dub lately and would like to hear some more, but have no clue where to start.

I'm looking forthe title of a song, and the artist, if anyone can help me?
The lyrics are..........
I am 20 yrs of age,

And I cannot sleep at night.

I need some-one to comfort me,

And love me too.

Part of the 'chorus' from what I can gather is either:-

Beat up on me now,

or,

Beat upon me now,

I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Not sure if this band has been posted yet. But one of my all time favorite ska bands is Passafire.

Dub I've heard:

The Aggrovators - Jammies in Lion Dub Style (1978)

The Aggrovators & The Revolutionaries - Rockers Almighty Dub (1979)

Prince Douglas - Dub Roots (1980)

Augustus Pablo - King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown (1977)

Scientist - Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires (1981)

The Upsetters - Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle (1973)

The Upsetters - Super Ape (1976)

Anything else I should look out for? Really want to expand upon this genre.

Lee Perry - A Serious Dub
King Tubby - Herb Dub/Collie Dub
10ft Ganja Plant - Midnight Landing
African Head Charge - Songs Of Praise (has a lot of African music in there too but well worth a listen)
Mad Professor - RAS Portraits
Sly & Robbie - Reggae Greats (A Dub Experience)

That should keep you going. I do have a really good Dub compilation on CD that I can up for you if you want to sample a lot of different bands and styles:

Quite a solid bunch of albums you've got yourself there.

Along with Jackhammer's recommendations, Blackbeard's I Wah Dub, Keith Hudson's Pick a Dub and Augustus Pablo's East Of the River Nile are all favourites of mine. Burning Spear's Garvey's Ghost (the dub mixes of his Marcus Garvey album) would be worth your time too.

I haven't really come across that phrase before, so this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I reckon you'd like Mark Stewart's Learning To Cope With Cowardice. It sounds fairly dark to me, and it's pretty cool as it mixes the formula up a bit.

For example;

Hope that helps at all.
