Go to hell hippies

Which album told the hippie nation to shove it up their ass better?

Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols

Or

We're only in it for the money (frank zappa)

Factor in whatever you'd like, music (being starkly diffrent from say folk) titles, overall statement being made, whatever, I've just always wondered what put the nail in the coffin first, deep, and with the least amount of mercy.

(and if your going to say SP was about image, i'd like to argue preemptivly that regardless of reality of fiction, it still sent a message)

Laces Out Dan! 10-23-2005 12:11 AM

Hippies ****ing own

Laces Out Dan! 10-23-2005 12:12 AM

sex pistols suck

Laces Out Dan! 10-23-2005 12:12 AM

Frank Zappa was cool though

blackTshirt 10-23-2005 01:41 AM

can't you say all of your opinions in one fucking post?

dog 10-23-2005 06:18 AM

whats wrong with hippies? theyre mellow, like good music, dont fight, pacifists. - a lot like me, only i dont do drugs.

letbobrest 10-23-2005 06:22 AM

anybody see the south park episode with the hippie music festival. I thought it brought out perfectly that you dissafected tree huggers are more interested in smoking pot and moaning about the machine then actually bothering to do anything about it

letbobrest 10-23-2005 06:23 AM

and can som1 tell me why i cant see my picture

letbobrest 10-23-2005 06:25 AM

or how can i stop my title reading groupie. That implies something and really pisses me off

From Cosmic Left Feild... 10-23-2005 09:05 AM

You need a certain amount of posts, bob. But hang on, you'll be there in no time.

Merkaba 10-23-2005 02:30 PM

:bonkhead: Well with triple posting he will.

Aha, well it doesnt say groupie anymore... Wonder if "Account disabled" is any more appealing to him...

Sneer 10-23-2005 02:39 PM

i think the release of the stooges first album in 69' did it better then either of the options given

TheBig3 10-23-2005 09:43 PM

Alright well why, becuase at first glance it doesn't at all. I can think of more things that tie Iggy to hippies then I can Frank or any of the pistols.

Laces Out Dan! 10-23-2005 09:55 PM

Dude...what is your problem with hippies..why dont you do a post about hating people that actually make **** ***...like terrorists or Murderers, or just a nice plain and simple *** like yourself

Merkaba 10-23-2005 10:53 PM

Because that is what his thread is about moron. If he wants to discuss what album took it to the hippies then he can. At least he's more productive than you. When was the last time you made a decent thread about musical history? You haven't.

Expletive Deleted 10-23-2005 11:01 PM

You sure you're not talking about the yuppie nation?

anticipation 10-24-2005 08:01 AM

hate to say it Big3, but The Sex Pistols are not metal/rock.

right-track 10-24-2005 08:07 AM

I don't think any band in particular ended the Hippie movement.
More the fact that they themselves moved on and got themselves a life.

If I was forced for an answer then I'd say Heavy Metal in general.

Maybe it should be changed to 'with the band'. This implies the same thing but has a nice euphemistic edge to it.

Metallica_rox 10-24-2005 10:17 AM

hippies are awesome, although their choice in music is quite bad, theyre lovely ppl who like to have a good time, be it pot or group sex lol

PhishFood 10-24-2005 03:57 PM

Damn I'm tired of People Mis interpreting this Thread, So Mad that i'll Throw in many a Random Capital letter!

I say Zappa, because Everything that his albums meant was intentional, Sex pistols, not so much

boris jawaka 10-24-2005 06:40 PM

i got nothing against hippies - i probably classify as one myself, but i still love were only in it for the money - it was the first album i ever bought, ever and i love it.

if you listen to the lyrics, money is definitely kicking the hippie population more than bollocks

bollocks is more anti establishment and government than anti hippy

Yeah, thank you phish food, this was supposed to be a debate, not my personal mission. The title was indicative of the subject matter not my own opinion.

I like real hippies, the neo-psuedo-hippies that worship DMB and John Mayer and talk about **** they've been told, not that they know, really piss me off.

But this has nothing to do with them. The question was which was a better hippy culture broadside, which was more effective at striking the flow power jugular.

Please ignore the early morons who didn't read, and the later idiots who went with the flow.

Also, The Sex Pistols are not rock or metal. But the sex pistols are more rock than zappa is punk.

brisbane_mule 10-24-2005 08:59 PM

hippies blaze. and that's sweet.
