Here's an article I found on a guitar tab website I visit occasionally. Normally I don't bother with their news because of how poorly the articles are written, but this one did strike my fancy. I think it's a little weird that Alex would be self-conscious about his lyrics, despite all the positive press he gets about them.
I like how he isn't bothered about America and how well they do over there, it's brilliant to see, usually bands want to make it big over there and that's the ultimate goal but they are a British band making British music for British people.

Has anyone else heard their new album? It leaked yesterday. I kind of like it, I think it may be a grower, hard to tell so far.

Listening through the album right now, sounds pretty good. First listen and I already think it's better than FWN.

the album THE AGE OF UNDERSTATEMENT is much better than any Arctic Monkeys album.
seems Alex Turner is working on another project with Miles Kane for release in 2010.

but it's not certain yet.

4 songs in...

- Dangerous Animals had a sweet solo
- Alex sounds bored and unenergetic at times

Ok final first impressions:

- Short, a bit underwhelming, but definite potential to grow

- Best song was Dance Little Liar

- Songs were layered beautifully, especially compared to previous albums

- Keyboards and Acoustic Guitars were used finally

Probably more of that Strokes influence.

Yeah, I don't know. It's not as bad as I thought it would be and they've certainly created enough good will with the first two albums for me to stick with this one and give it multiple listens before I make a final judgment. The drumming is top notch as always though. :\

I will eat humble pie and say that I have been pleasently surprised with the album. I think it may even lose them some fans but hey shit happens. It's better than FWN by a long chalk.
