Bergtatt is an amazing album. If you are a fan of the more "mellow" BM, you'll love the album. Great choice...
in fact... *puts on Bergtatt* |
Ive heard a few tracks off "Fate of Norns." I like how the singer uses his metal voice, but still sings it, rather than just screaming incoherently. Of what I've heard, I like "An Ancient Sign of Coming Storm" the best.

^^^Listen to their album, 'Once Sent From the Golden Hall'. Absolutely awesome music, with stellar songs like 'Victorious March' and 'Friends of the Suncross'.
Yeah, Amon Amarth are my favorite Death Metal band. Their best albums are OSFTGH, The Crusher, Fate of Norns and Versus the World. Gods of Viking Death Metal. |
Good, but not great. Stupidly over hyped and probably one of the weaker viking metal bands around. However, I'm a sucker for viking metal so it still catches my interest a bit.

One of my favorite band, and one of my bigger influences.
Pursuit of Vikings and Runes to my Memory are my favorites..... the latter I want played at my funeral. :) |
Their DVD "Wrath of the Norseman" recently reached gold status due to number of sales.

Anyways Amon Amarth are okay, but for my Melodic Death Metal I listen to Sentenced, COB, Kalmah, and Dark Tranquility. |

My friend was playing "Pursuit of Vikings" to a few of his "friends," and one of them was this girl who likes roughly the same music we do, but she didn't know who Amon Amarth were. My friend says they are a melo death band whose themes revolve around vikings and norse mythology and blah blah, y'know the rest. She says, "Screw that, who'd wanna sing about vikings? They suck. Cradle of Filth is better." It's stuff like "CoF is better" that just negates any argument. |
