I don't care if you think it's great, that's not the point of what I'm saying, the point is: How could it POSSIBLY be anywhere NEAR as good as the masterpiece that is reign in Blood? Araya's performance on Heaven is GARBAGE, and makes most of the songs just absolutely putrid. He singlehandedly ruins "Behind the Crooked Cross," along with just about every other song on that album where the instrumentation is otherwise fine.

I've never liked that album, though it's not Araya that I blame for it. I just find a lot of the songs to be plodding and dull, lacking all the speed, sharpness and aggression that I love about Slayer.

The next person to call "Reborn" the worst track on Reign in Blood, I'm going to burn your house down.

That would be "Jesus Saves".

Jesus Saves is by far my favorite track on that album, though it does break the flow of that album with it's unusual intro. Still, those chord progressions are one of the most sinister things ever recorded when combined with that guitar tone.

Jesus Saves' complexity makes up for Postmortem's total lack of progression though.

"Post-Mortem" has one of the most godly riffs Slayer ever recorded. "Jesus Saves" is by no means a bad song, but it just never really clicked with me the way the rest of the album did.

If I wanted to listen to mid-paced thrash like "Postmortem," I'd listen to Exhorder's second album.

If I wanted to listen to an album without any changes in tempo then I'd listen to Sadus' debut. I don't particularly want to do that.

And I agree that the beginning of "Jesus Saves" interrupts the flow of the album. That kind of thing should be at the beginning of the B-side.

Oooh, that was a great comeback.

Except not really.
Spoiler for I don't have a problem with tempo changes...:

...I have a problem with mid-paced thrash metal and, to a certain extent, mid-paced music in general. I've never been able to understand the appeal. Doom metal speed and high-speed thrash and fast punk are my favorite tempos, but if you go between those, I don't know, it just sounds like dull plodding to me.

Seasons In The Abyss will always be a great song.
