i heard somewhere that when asked if ringo starr was the greatest rock drummer ever, john lennon replied "He isn't even the best drummer in the beatles!"

I'd believe it. Ringo might be cool and all but his drumming is just way too simple to be considered the best.

I wanted to say Danny Carey but I heard he uses all these triggers and loops and I am not sure how all that works. I play drums myself and I am nowhere near any of these guys but they are all good and have their own styles but I picked Peart. But what about Lars Ulrich? Especially early Metallica.

I'm a drummer too, but I honestly don't have a clue on how triggers work. But why would a drummer use loops, wouldn't that just put way too much percussion into the music?

I always here rumours about Danny Carey using triggers and loops but I'm pretty sure they aren't true. I've seen them live a few times and it does not look like he's using triggers and loops at all. *waits for a carey-hater to argue*

I watched some videos on Keith and he seems really cool. But I think Neil has more variety in his work.
