Default Jewish metal bands/members

It's obvious that some narrow minded people flat ignore metal's multicultural history, and assume that it's exclusively some sort of white conservative male regime. With the establishment that women, gays, and blacks can, believe it or not, create hard music to. I think I would like to make a thread to establish the importance of Jewish influence on heavy metal.

Two key examples I can think of are Scott Ian, and producer Rick Rubin. Crucial influences to the development of the metal genre as it's known today. Ones of which have helped progressed the genre in ways that ridiculous anti-Jew "conservative" acts have clearly borrowed from. Especially the white power retards buying a copy of 'Reign in Blood' not realizing a large portion of the money goes to a Jewish man who probably gets a good laugh out of their flagrant idiocy.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

I don't know if it's a big issue in America but in all my years here, my friends, colleagues and fringe friends have only have ever bought or listened to to music based upon the content and have never given a second thought as to whether they were buying into some religious bias.

If there is some underlying religious/cultural divide then we have chose to ignore it I am afraid.

I think the only people who think metal is white supremacist music are those who dont listen to it. They arent going to listen to you saying that its multicultural or whatever else, they've decided its angry white men screaming into a microphone and playing unintelligible instrumentals.

People who like metal will generally know that its a multicultural genre, there are black people, arabs, women, gays all heavily involved in the shaping of the genre. There will always be a few idiots who make the rest of us look bad, but they are not representative of metal fans, thay are bigots who happen to like metal.

I don't think it's a big issue here either. Like you I don't think I've ever run into anyone who bases their music choice on something like that.

Anyhoo... if the point of this thread is to give props to significant Jewish metal musicians, how about Death's main man Chuck Schuldiner? Definitely a pivotal figure in metal.

Actually, if you want to talk minorities in metal, Jews would probably be one the most significant - they're waaaay over represented. Danny Lilker of Nuclear Assault, Brutal Truth, Hemlock (etc.), some members of KISS, David Lee Roth (duh), Slash of GnR, Portnoy from Dream Theater, Rob from Anvil (his dad is actually a holocaust survivor), etc.

There's quite a few metal bands in Israel, but my understanding is that gentiles are over represented in the Israeli metal scene.

Eh? Really? I can't think of many NAMs who've been "heavily involved in the shaping of the genre", unless you'd group all Latinos (blacks, mestizos, and euros) into one. (East) Asians, Jews - no shortage of these, which isn't surprising at all.

Gene Simmons and Bruce Kulick are Jewish as well.

I dunno who's the current drummer.

They say Ross the Boss (Ross Friedman) of Manowar is Jewish. I sort of cheated - was looking up whether Neal Schon is Jewish and it led there.

Also, and I found this by having a suspicion of Megadeth involvement, Marty Friedman (no relation?) is Jewish.

Dan Spitz (once in Anthrax) was Jewish (he coverted). I presume that his brother Dave Spitz (in Black Sabbath for a time) still is Jewish.

Heh, Type o Negative had a bunch of black-haired guys and keyboards, and it turns out (cue nerdy stereotypes) the keyboard player, Josh Silver, is Jewish.
