It's because that their sound has been done in some shape or form years earlier and those bands didn't get the recognition that Coldplay now get.

It's partially sour grapes and partially a bugbear that many music fans have dug similar sounds for years beforehand.

Bands such as these were so damn good but never got decent acclaim:

Going back a few posts I have to say I completely agree with Hip Hop Bunny’s sentiments in regards to artists such as In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy etc.
While these artists receive boatloads of praise, everything I’ve heard by them has just seemed absolutely putrid to me (the same can be said for the metalcore, melodic thrashcore etc. that many of these albums helped spawn).
On the other hand I quite enjoy lots of other artists (Sacramentum, Dawn, Unanimated) who may not have that same Gothenburg sound but have found a way to be melodic without completely bastardizing their death/black metal roots in the name of wishy washy hooks and 'catchiness'.
Grotesque and earlier ATG is killer too.

As for other artists, there are so many unoriginal, rehashed artists and albums coming out these days that the list is too long to even touch on.

Demilich aren't that obscure; considering the music they played, I think it's rather amazing they're as well known as they are. I posted this else where, but I rarely like the psychedellic/metal hybrids, and most of the material put out by Amorphis falls in that category. Anyways, I'd say they're as progressive/technical as Tool or Mastodon, but far more enjoyable to listen to.

Hate 'em.

It's not a matter of being "especially talented", but maintaing basic proficiency with instruments. "Do They Owe Us A Living?" sounds no different from a bunch of hippies beating on bongos while shouting red propaganda.

Why? Music is about freedom, something very special and besides Crass was not held back by their musical abilities. Sometimes people forget that art requires a lot from a person and that it is influenced by everything about them including their musical abilities and think that by simply being better at their technique they will become better artists.

I guess some muso with super advance music theory knowledge could tear Crass's chops apart but so what? What matters most isn't the amount of skill a musician has but what they do with the skill they have.

Crass are an excellent band, every aspect of the music is interesting to me. The millitary style drumming, the muddy bass and probably the most wickedly awsome guitar tones of any punk band ever. I love Eve Libertine's vocals too.

Penis Envy is definitely in my top 10 punk albums of all time.

Bands that I think suck:

Nickelback
Insane Clown Posse
Milli Vanilli
Linkin Park
Limp Bizkit
Korn
Disturbed
Slipknot
Backstreet Boys
N'Sync
Daughtry
Avenged Sevenfold
Fall Out Boy
Panic At The Disco
All American Rejects

And Muse has never really caught on with me. I bought Absolution and I thought a few songs were good, but something about Matt's voice rubs me the wrong way. I'm not sure what it is, I just don't care for his vocals. I do love "Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist" though!

Agreed. Also: Soundgarden. :p:

Boooo.

Soundgarden are good, I just get irritated when metalheads say they're the only good grunge band, and probably haven't even heard any of the grunge bands outside of the big 4.

I usually try to avoid posting posts that are purely negative and unconstructive.

...But I'm bored soooooo...

Neutral Milk Hotel
Joy Division
Aiden
Shinedown
Godsmack
Five Finger Death Punch
Obituary

Sorry if I offended.

TheReverend 03-19-2010 09:59 PM

I cant stand Devil Wears Prada. I just cant put my finger on why, though. Must have something to do with the garbage screaming and lack of good sound, coupled with over-loud drums and an irritating wall-o-sound. Hmm.

I'll tell ya some sucky bands!

Aerosmith

Boston

Van Halen

AC/DC

Def Leppard

These bands signalled the death of rock.

Looking for more modern suckage?

Try Muse.
