Kevorkian Logic 02-01-2007 03:19 PM

NoFX's album "drunk in public" still has a soft spot in my heart.

Mr.Jack 02-01-2007 03:20 PM

White Stripes - pretty self explanitory...
3. Simple Plan - completly overated and whiny as ****
thats all i feel like putting down for right now

Go listen to the drums on 'stairway to heaven,' the riff on 'whole lotta love' and the sheer anger of the solo in 'since i've been loving you' plus the cool little bass part after Paige's solo. Also 'City Don't Cry' and 'Babe i'm gonna leave you' is an acoustic delight. Educate yourself.

breakingbenfan13 02-01-2007 03:49 PM

Besides "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "City Don't Cry" ive heard all those songs numerous times on the radio, nothing impressive or interesting.

the only reason i thought people liked them is because they where a big influence...I didnt think they actually liked the music.

I doubt everyone that like Led on here are in a band, so why would the care how influential they are? And why would someone be influenced by a band if they didn't like the music?:usehead:
And the fact that you've only heard their 'early years' greatest hits material goes to show how much you've tried to invest your time in a band before knocking them.

because i've seen plenty of people credit a band for influence but still don't like the band.

and i never listened to the greatest hits, i've heard plenty of songs by them because thats all they play on the rock stations and haven't liked one song by them. im not going to go and listen to every cd they made just so i can say i dont like them, ive heard enough i shouldnt be subjected to more of it i was just saying that ive heard most of the music that that guy recommended.

What I hate about discussions like this is that theyre always really safe and obvious. People just pick on safe targets like Blink 182 or Michael Bolton or something.

Personally I think the Who and Led Zeppelin f***ing suck ass and Im not going to not say it just 'cause theyre critically reverred.

Sparky 02-01-2007 04:31 PM

i wouldn't say they suck ass jimmy paige was very talented. But yeah, both those bands bore me to tears. I just can't relate to their music, or get into it.

Im not a big fan of robert plants vocals either.

You do know that just about all the rock you listened to was influenced by Led in some way or another. I love Led Zeppelin, but I know many bands I would rather listen to.

As far as the Who goes, well I don't know much about them. I think I have only heard one album and it wasn't that bad.

Raine 02-01-2007 07:34 PM

Nickelback
Theory of a deadman

All the music in the world was influenced by a caveman bangeing rocks together but that don't mean I want to listen to it.

I respect your opinion about Led but my perception of them is that of lumbering dinosaurs, coked up to Valhalla and playing extremely dull, bland loud music.

TheReverend 03-16-2010 04:41 PM

I think most of the usual rappers these days, even though they arent "bands" are god awful musicians. Its the laziest genre, and requires almost no real talent, except a chliche bad attitude.

Also Nickelback. Can a band be more two-faced?

Edit: Also Coldplay. Worst live performance of the century goes hands down to their lead vocalist.

I really don't like Coldplay, but can they sound worse than this?

gunnels 03-16-2010 07:33 PM

Um, what? Coldplay are really good live.

white/noise 03-16-2010 10:11 PM

Three Days Grace
Breaking Benjamin
Muse
Adelitas Way

khfreek 03-16-2010 10:29 PM

a constructive thread that really needed reviving!

IWP 03-17-2010 09:32 AM

^ Yes I agree whole-heartedly. :)

Off the top of my head starting with the ones I hate the most.

Brokencyde (anyone who likes this band's "music" has no taste for music, imo)
Hollywood Undead
Waking the Cadaver
Linkin Park (phoney-angst ridden ****, no thanks)
Slipknot
Limp Bizkit (goes without saying)
Insane Clown Posse
Papa Roach
Whitechapel
Norma Jean
Underoath
Nickelback
Nirvana (I can tolerate grunge, but this band is overrated.)
Korn
Creed
Breaking Benjamin
Three Days Grace
Apocaltypitca
Theory of a Deadman
Seether
Shinedown
Senses Fail
Bring Me the Horizon (most girls are obsessed with this band)
Senses Fail
Panic at the Disco
My Chemaical Romance
Killswitch Engaged
As I Lay Dying (though they do have one good song.)
Darkthrone (yes I went there, talented I guess, yet bores me to death.)
most black metal, post-grunge, nu-metal, screamo/emo, and deathcore bands
Oh, and I'd add 99.9% of today's rappers, but this is the rock/metal section, so I'll leave it at that.

I guess you can say I hate just about anything that is either fake-angst ridden, or bands with cookie monster and/or screaming vocals.

There's probably more that I forgot to add, but I'll add them accordingly.

Wait? WHAT?

You're calling them horrible musicians for having liberal politics and being associated with the hippie movement? Which influenced a lot of the best rock music ever? How does that equate to them making hippie music? Crass makes hippie music? Are you f*cking kidding me? Is this a joke account?

And you're wrong, they were pretty capable musicians by punk standards. Crass were leagues more talented than most of the other late 70s punk bands.

Given that Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Tool for example are among the best in their respected genres and Angela Gossow is one hell of a singer from Arch Enemy, tell me what do you consider to be good metal?

no, cause if I sucked, i would like muse.:D

they've always made me think, "radiohead jr.".

boo boo 03-17-2010 02:57 PM

They really don't sound like Radiohead, the vocals are kinda similar, but that's just from having similar voice types and similar influences. Muse are not copying Radiohead at all, nothing else about their music is even remotely similar to Radiohead.

I'm pretty sure Matt Bellamy doesn't even like Radiohead all that much.
