Er, I never made that claim about either one so I'm not exactly sure what you're responding to here.

two things we could probably find some common ground on is all.

I used them as an example of how the best music at the time wasn't pop.

The more things change...

um, yeah dude...

I said that there just aren't many good musical acts from Philly for my taste.

David Bowie is NOT from Philly.

Get YOUR facts straight.

of course you do.

They're easier to play.

Tele's are a bit "stiffer"; you gotta rassle 'em a little more.

oooooooookay...

we've still got about 100 miles until I get to my destination, so I responded.

wow, aren't you the ray of sunshine.

Return of The Don?

Nice try, but epic fail.

I know their background; Clapton left Mayall (whose band at the included John McVie and Mick Fleetwood); Baker and Bruce knrlew each other from their days in Graham Bond's band but didn't like each other, yadda yadda...

They were known in their natve England as The Cream.

That's what they referred to themselves as, and Jimi Hendrix called them that, too.

So I take their word over yours.

The Beatles influence over music, as a whole, is ever-pervasive and almost omnipotent at my point.

The reason I had the "little family tree" breakdown was to show the lineage of influence on very disparate acts.

And I'm good on my music history; I'll go toe to toe with anyone, anytime.

If you ever want to get schooled again, just holler away.

For somebody that claims to know music history you`ve made some startling errors. Fresh Cream came out Dec 1966 around 5 months ahead of Hendrix`s debut which was May 1967 (months in this period of music history, were actually a long time as so much was always happening) When I say set the stage for Hendrix, I`m referring how he took the Cream sound to more extreme levels.

As an avid music student, you should surely be aware that the big groups of the day borrowed off each other. One of the most influential psychedelic albums of the era was "Fifth Dimension" by the Byrds that pre-dated by almost a year "Sgt Pepper`s......." and the Beatles as sure as hell borrowed of the Byrds there. The Beatles were extremely innovative (nobody`s denying that) but they had their fair share of borrowing off others as well. ADMIT IT......IT HAPPENED.

Its common knowledge about the genre labels coming much later, but if you`re going to use disparate labels, then we`re not going to get too far in unravelling your blinkered views.

would it be a shorter list if we listed bands that didnt suck?
i thinks so
there is way to much yuppie crap out there now
quality stuff is harder to come by

Mr. Bungle 07-22-2010 04:46 AM

You want to know a band that sucks? The Black Crowes! I used to love them until I was kicked out of a Crowes show in LA a couple years ago...

...for doing the same thing I've been doing at Crowes shows for 13 years...

smoking my one hitter

no warnings..

40 minutes in.......I was out.

and was even encouraged into violence by security guard who wanted a blow at me b/c I initially resisted.. (he even muttered for me to do something so he could punch me......wisely, I walked away with just a '**** you' and just took it on the ****ing emotional chin.)

I would like to thank Pete and his 'overwhelming demand' bull****.....for moving the show to the Wiltern

where I was harrased by a 20 something yellow jacket...who had no interest in anything ...but ruining my night.

did I mention there was NO WARNING ?

Funny....I couldn't buy a shirt or poster from this band without a pot leaf on it for the past few years

oh, I suppose I come across as bitter.

well...guess what?

I really ****ing am....on a night that was supposed to be ****ing special and give me a much needed lift.

$60 and the show of a lifetime....gone.....just like that.

(did I mention there was no warning?)

it's funny too...b/c the only thing I got to hear CR say to the crowd that night was
'Some people like to be cops and some people like to be robbers....'

Thanks for putting me right next to the cops....as I tried to enjoy ...your show.

Very sorry I missed 'One Night Only'
thanks to the change of 'scene'

first off, if you like Bungle so much that you're naming yourself after them why are you paying ANY attention to the Black Crowes?

secondly. a few years ago? really? bitter much?

why would you get a warning for something that's obviously common knowledge as being illegal? yeah it happens and people can sneak it in, but if you do it in plain view of the staff what do you expect? the venue stands to lose FAR more than your burnt out butt would likely ever provide for them in return.

especially if you're still obsessing over a band that hasn't been relevant in well over a decade.
