Yngwie...?

Good? Yes. What do all you people think?

mosesandtherubberducky 12-20-2005 01:42 PM

I think he is a pompus bastard that is stuck in the bad part of the 80s.

riseagainstrocks 12-20-2005 07:30 PM

Amazing guitar but far too mechanical. If he put more emotion into his playing I'd like him alot better.

makes some stupid qoutes. like this one- ' more is more and less is less. the whole idea that less is more is stupid. '

its called sublety ya jackass

half_baked87 12-20-2005 11:28 PM

he's a great guitarist, but as riseagainst said its really almost automatic playing. needs to be dreamier, but no doubt an amazing guitarist.

How dare you guys disrespect the focking fury. :yeah:

Seriously, i dont get all the Yngwie bashing, especialy with all the tasteless, wanking and boring shreders out there, they all make Yngwie seem far more tasteful in comparison.

And i do think Yngwie can be very tasteful and even emotional when he wants to be, he does more than just shred, in fact he used to play neo classical accoustic guitar before even taking up electric...I think his accoustic stuff is the best, personaly.

Regardless, he was the biggest influence on the 80s shred scene after EVH and Blackmore...And for god reason, get Rising Force, some sweet stuff.

Love his cover of Gimme Gimme Gimme...f@*$ing nice song.

i met ynwie at blockbuster about 1 yr ago here in miami!! he is the coolest guy...i though he was funny when i saw him there he had no cash but was driving his red ferrari...he went to his car and got his wallet...he looked totally underdressed!!! but i still recognized him with all that jewelry...lol...but anyway, i asked him for an autograph and he gave it to me and he asked what i had on my hand (my own music cd...i play guitar)...and he told me "good luck man"...real cool guy!! as far as music...he has amazing technique and great guitar tone...some of his music is very influential for me....btw...u can check out my tunes if you like on soundclick: THE G1 FORCE PROJECT

technically the most gifted guitarist by far, there is nothing too difficult for him to play. However, like others have said his emotion lacks and it was very evident to me when I saw a video of him trying to play the blues, it was aweful. You could tell he was just playing the notes and there was no feeling behind what he was playing.

I agree, he really is a great guitarist and doesn't deserve all the bashing he's been getting on this forum. I have never in my life heard someone shred on a classical guitar like he does. You gotta admit that its pretty cool how he plays tchaikovsky (sp?) on his strat. By far the fastest strat player, possibly the fastest player of all time, not sure. Speed and technicality isn't everything though of course, if only you could blend him in with gilmour or hendrix or clapton or something, then you would have it made...

Kashmir86 12-22-2005 12:56 PM

And I have a video of him live in japan on my computer and I have to say he walks over Hendrix when it comes to playing with his teeth...

This is a pretty good interview with malmsteen...

Laces Out Dan! 12-22-2005 02:19 PM

malmsteen is rad....incredibly technical but thats what sets him apart from Vai...(also somewhat technical) i know a lot of people that dont like him because he is so technical bt i love that...my favourite drummer is Peart because of his Technicality....I love it...and Malmsteen

Kashmir86 12-22-2005 02:36 PM

I like creativity too much to like peart the best, He is amazingly skilled, quick and like you said technical, but Moon or Bonham always wins it for me because they are more diverse and creative IMO...

Laces Out Dan! 12-22-2005 02:40 PM

O man i dont know....im not sure id say moon is even near Peart in creativity.Just my opinion though....i dont even see moon as a good drummer....hes only entertaining

Kashmir86 12-22-2005 03:16 PM

yeah well, theres really no point in arguing over stuff like this because it really depends on what your musical preferences are, but at least you're saying peart is your favorite and not somethin stupid like joey jordison or tommy lee even worse...

Laces Out Dan! 12-23-2005 05:48 PM

^ yeah...thats agreeable...
