Sure it's bad. But it's at least entertaining for a few songs before you get bored and want to listen to something else. Most deathcore can't even do that for me.

Also, about that tone you mentioned...they use it just like everyone else in their genre specifically for breakdowns like you mentioned.
Nah, they've got a bit more of a lo-fi thing going on with their guitar tone than most others, at least on their first album, which is the only one I'm really familiar with.

And the breakdowns they build their songs around are some of the most neanderthalic and knuckle-dragging I've ever heard.
But yeah, they are most certainly a breakdown band that's gonna go down hard when this whole deathcore thing finally goes outta style.

I think that tone has more to do with them not having the resources to have better production more than it has to do with them using that tone intentionally. It's lo-fi only because they couldn't afford better. That being said, they still sound like everyone else in their genre, no matter what album you listen to.

Just to show derivate a band they are:

Sounds similar to

and

Sounds just like

Quite possibly. I don't really have the desire to check out any of their other stuff to compare honestly.

Lol, I can't believe a deathcore band named themselves after another deathcore band's song (Chelsea Grin)

Probably the most hated deathcore band at that

It just really shows how derivative the entire genre really is.

There are some quality bands though, just like everything genre. I remember awhile back, Batlord posted a Ted Maul link in the "What are you listening to now" thread that led me to checking out and liking their other stuff. (deathcore mixed with jungle drum and bass is a pretty novel concept that they make work). Also, here's another band that mixes deathcore with a kind of BTBAM progressive aesthetic. The song begins with the typical deathcore sound, but about a minute and a half in, it moves into some beautiful, spacey guitar passages.

Nonsense; not every genre has quality bands. Some genres are composed completely of ****; deathcore is one of these.

would have to agree. How can anybody actually sit through a Suicide Silence song, and think;
'yeah, I really appreciate the musical masterpiece that is this track'

It's ear-splitting, I feel possibly deafening if one were to listen to a full album.
